Since 1995, Vulcan Minerals has focused on identifying and advancing mineral opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today, that experience is helping guide work at our core Springdale / Colchester Copper-Gold Project, located in a historic mining region with a history dating back to the late 1800s. Bringing together the Colchester, Pine Pond and Little Bay Mine projects, the area is being evaluated through a multi-stage approach using modern exploration technology.

The tools continue to evolve. The objective remains the same: follow the geology and uncover opportunity.

Once drill core is recovered, the work continues.

Geologists log the core to document its geological characteristics, identify areas of interest and select samples for laboratory analysis. Those results are interpreted alongside other geological and exploration data to determine next steps for the project.

Exploration is a process, and every stage adds another piece to the geological picture.

Atlas Salt represents an important chapter in Vulcan Minerals’ story and a world-class resource with long-term industrial potential.

Vulcan retains a 23.61% ownership interest as of June 30, 2026 in Atlas Salt Inc., along with a 3% Net Production Royalty on mineral licences covering the Great Atlantic Salt Project in western Newfoundland.

The project reflects the potential of advancing a strong exploration opportunity over time.

How does an exploration target become a drill target? It starts long before the drill arrives.

Geologists can combine historical records, geological mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical data to identify areas of interest.

As those different layers of information come together, the exploration team can refine where further work, including drilling, may be warranted.

The drill is only one part of the exploration story.

Geochemical soil sampling allows exploration teams to analyze concentrations of different elements across an area.

When unusual concentrations or patterns appear, they can help geologists identify areas that may warrant additional investigation.

It's a relatively simple tool that can provide valuable clues about what lies beneath the surface.
