I had the privilege of delivering a session to the members of the Twin Cities Society of Human Resource Management this week! 🎊

Managers are known as ‘corporate America’s most neglected employees’ because only 28% of organizations prioritize developing their managers. 😬

This creates a leadership paradox because, according to Gallup, the biggest driver of employee engagement is an employee’s relationship with their manager.

But how can you engage your team if YOU don’t feel engaged or invested in by your employer?

The engagement and competency level of an organizations’ managers impact EVERY outcome from engagement to productivity to talent retention. ⬆️

🚨If you are ‘reading the room’ right now it is clear that many folks are stressed or struggling. 🚨

It is easy to feel powerless - I know I do sometimes.

And when I feel this way, I return to my TOOLS for resilience. 🌱

Most of my work with managers, executives, and business owners involves sharing TOOLS and strategies that will help them do their work in a way that supports resilience AND progress.

One tool I use in almost EVERY coaching session with clients is the C.I.A. tool.

💡 C.I.A. stands for Control, Influence, Accept.

When we are dealing with uncertainty and fear, we must ground ourselves by tuning in to our own personal power.

You can use this tool to self-coach by asking yourself:

1. What about this situation can I control?
2. What about this situation can I influence?
3. What about this situation must I accept?

Spoiler: Typically, the only thing we can control is our own response.

TOOLS like the C.I.A. model can help us all navigate difficult times by minimizing the impact of external events and helping us reconnect to our own sense of personal power.
