KUMAR for Steinbach Council

Eight years ago, in 2018, I was invited to attend a SEMFA - South EastMan Filipino Association community event in Steinbach during my first City Council campaign. Today, I continue to believe that listening to our communities, businesses, organizations, faith groups is so important.

Recently, I had a conversation with SEMFA President, Louise about the Filipino community in our area and any challenges residents face. She shared that the community is generally happy and involved. We also agreed that better public transportation would be a great help to the community.

Public transit is something I have advocated for since 2018. It can help people get to work, access services and participate more easily in community life.

United local Team, for future of . Tried my best to select one photo in which everyone (kind of) had photo friendly expression.

“The Manitoba RCMP are aware of recent incidents, including the posting of a banner, that was intended to provoke fear and division in the Steinbach area.

“This type of behaviour is concerning and completely unacceptable, both to the RCMP and the entire community at large.

“The safety and security of Manitobans is our top priority. We will not tolerate any form of hate, intimidation, harassment or harmful targeting of communities or individuals.

“Steinbach RCMP are taking this matter seriously and actively investigating. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Steinbach RCMP at 204-326-4452, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or via secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.”

DO I NEED TO BE DEPORTED FOR BELIEVING IN “LOCAL & FAIR”?

My ideology, Local First and Fair Policies, has been on FullTimeEFFORT.ca for months. It means strengthening local people, businesses, culture and communities while making fair policies for everyone.

Does this support mass immigration? No. It means putting local needs first. Or any of my community work suggests that ?

Many of my friends know or simply check my posts in local fb groups, before election I actually tried to find more local candidates to help them run.

Honestly, I could hardly sleep last night after reading some comments online. It was hard to hide my emotions from my family, who counts on me for strength and follow me unconditionally. I locked doors deadbolt this morning before leaving to work at 4 am.

I urge people not to fall for misinformation. Learn different perspectives, check the facts and try to understand why things happen before blaming others. No one or nothing is perfect, we all learn and try to improve.

STEINBACH IS NOT WHAT THAT BANNER SAYS.

I ❤️ Steinbach

STEINBACH WILL VOTE ON THE ISSUES WE FACE, NOT THE COLOUR OF OUR SKIN.

Earlier, I have encountered some racist comments online and a few minor incidents. But Steinbach community has been very supportive.

Local friends reached out to me after learning about this, and I truly appreciate their kindness.

I don't believe this banner represents our community.

I am running for City Council to work on issues that affect all residents: seniors' needs, public transit, public safety, drainage, infrastructure and responsible spending. I want to be known for the issues I work on, not the colour of my skin.

I sincerely hope the RCMP investigates who posted this banner, whether there is any connection to the group referenced, and whether there is any specific risk to me or my family. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I believe these concerns deserve to be taken seriously.

We can disagree on policies and priorities, but nobody should be judged by their race or made to feel they don't belong.

I believe in Steinbach and its future. Let's stay united.
