The season is in full swing in Nova Scotia and nothing says summer like a sip of our crisp and fresh First Tides.

Cold from the cooler, poured campsite or at the cottage and passed around the fire as the sun starts to dip and nobody’s quite ready to head inside for the night yet. Let’s raise one more glass before the sun sets this weekend.

There’s something about gathering around a table in the vineyard, raising a glass, and sharing a really good meal.

This September, we’re celebrating the 2026 harvest with an afternoon of live music, Horse Thief hospitality, vineyard games, and a proper old-fashioned feast.

THE WHOLE HOG ROAST

We’ll kick things off at 1 PM with live music from Steve Smith. Find your spot, make new friends, and settle in for the afternoon.

Then, at 2 PM, the feast begins.

Sizzlers BBQ will be serving up a whole-hog roast, alongside a generous buffet of seasonal side dishes. And because no feast is complete without something sweet, we’ll finish with a selection of desserts.

Food will be served from 2 PM until it’s gone, so come hungry!

After you’ve filled your plate, challenge your friends to a few vineyard games, wander the property, listen to the music, or simply find a sunny spot to linger.

Seating is limited, but you’re welcome to bring your own favourite chair, blanket, or anything else that makes you comfortable while listening to the music.

Please note: no dogs.

This is a ticketed event, and tickets include the whole feast.

Earlier this spring we had a visit from the great crew at TCPEP to walk through the vines and talk about how we got here from the first spark of an idea 5 years ago.

Without the support of local organizations like Truro & Colchester Partnership T&C Chamber of Commerce Invest Nova Scotia Nova Scotia Loyal East Hants Chamber and the Town of Stewiacke we would not have been able to celebrate our opening this season.

We aim each day to build a space where family, friends, and community can come together to celebrate and embrace the land as our forefathers intended.

Happy International Dog Day to the best there ever is; Denali Gourley.

‘Nali girl takes her job as vineyard guardian very seriously here at Horse Thief. Often times being seen at all hours lounging effortlessly on the tire of your car before casually stealing a few hot dogs and hearts.

The vines would not be here today without her and for that we are forever grateful.

Pop by this week and say hello to our goodest girl 🐾

Charlee Mills heads back to the vineyard on September 3rd all the way from Move Yoga and Fitness to lead our end of summer Vinyasa in the Vineyard class.

Settle in amongst the vines as she guides you through this all levels class followed by wine and the ability to unwind with the season.

The weather this week has asked us to postpone our next great event: Words, Wine and Wander with Pages & Pieces Boutique will now take place on Sunday September 13th.

Those who have purchased tickets have been notified that their tickets will automatically transfer unless they ask for a refund.

We hope this new date allows for more of you to stop in, take a deep breath, and find some calm amongst the vines as the season shift 🥂

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon where great stories, exceptional wine, and beautiful vineyard views come together.

Your ticket includes admission to Words, Wine & Wander, a sampling of Horse Thief Vineyards wines, and the opportunity to browse, connect, and discover alongside fellow book and wine lovers in collaboration with Pages & Pieces Bookstore.

Escape to a secluded corner of the vineyard, away from the noise and hustle of everyday life. Wander the peaceful grounds, relax beside the pond, settle onto a hay bale with a cozy blanket, and soak in the beauty of the vineyard at your own pace. Keep an eye out for wildlife—you may even spot a deer crossing through the vines or be greeted by Denali, our gentle Bernese Mountain vineyard guardian. Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chair if they prefer additional comfort.

And Sept 3 we welcome back Charlee Mills from Move Yoga and Fitness for another round of Vinyasa in the Vineyard to kick off the long weekend.
