Cris MacIntosh

Cris MacIntosh Educator, consultant & advocate for small business success. I offer a comprehensive suite of products tailored to your needs. Hi, it's me Cris! Yes.

Mission is simple: empower entrepreneurs like you with the tools & knowledge needed to thrive in today's competitive landscape. Small business was my life and continues to be my passion - mortgage advise is a tool I have been taught and it has allowed me to help my peers. How did a shop owner start offering mortgage advice? Let me tell you...

When stuck in my "closed" shop during the third-lock d

own, there was a knock at the door. (Okay so it was more like a text message - but I'm telling a story here!)

"Cris would you be interested in a mobile mortgage position? We need someone just like you!"

I didn't jump at it. I really had to think about it, because anyone who knows me, knows I always have a project or community initiative on the go. "Does offering mortgage advice make sense for me?"

Could I continue to work with my small business community & clients? Could it complement my small business mentorship? Will I still be able to do all my volunteer work? Could it help me with my commercial property ownership goals? I know most people skim, and do not read everything, so I won't go on - I'll make a short video one day and share my journey ;)

But if you did get this far, hopefully you will understand how my desire to help my community and ensure small businesses stay open and can sustain themselves, was greatly supported by learning how to lend and credit plan. Mortgage advice is a very important tool in my small business mentorship toolbox! And I am eternally grateful for the opportunities I get each day to really truly help my neighbours and small business owners.

Absolutely!

You have to protect your circle.

The rule of “your 5” (top 5 people around you) is very similar.

I wouldn’t call this a rant, but definitely a PSA 📣

Before I head to a networking event or community event, there’s one small detail I like to take care of: I update my “Meet Cris” page.

I have a QR code on my business card that takes people directly to this page. So when someone meets me and scans my card, they’re not just landing on a generic homepage — they’re getting a quick introduction to who I am, what I’m working on right now, and where they can connect with me.

Before a recent Redblacks Summer Rush event, I updated the page and even created custom LinkedIn and Instagram buttons specifically for the occasion.

Is all of that necessary? Probably not.

But that’s kind of the point.

As a small business owner, sometimes it’s the little extra touches and attention to detail that help you put your best foot forward.

Your website doesn’t have to be something you build once and forget about. It can be a working tool that changes with your business, your community involvement, and the people you’re meeting.

💡 Small Business Idea: Create a simple “Meet Me” page on your website and connect it to a QR code on your business card. Before your next event, take five minutes to make sure it reflects what you’re doing right now.

Building beautiful, practical businesses one project at a time.

If it isn’t done correctly, it’s not complete.

Those words changed my perspective on so many things.

This is why I have a very difficult time when people try to pass off responsibility and just say “delegate”.
My question now always remains “delegate to who?”

Today was one of those days where it was just thunderstorms and rain and humidity and grossness. It was the perfect day to get caught up on administrative tasks.

You need the business financials, not just their pretty merchandising.
