HYDRANT FLUSHING

Starting next week, the City of Stratford will begin its spring hydrant flushing.

This is something we do twice a year – typically in the spring and fall – to clean out some of the iron deposits that build up over time in the City’s watermains, and as preventative maintenance.

You may temporarily experience discoloured water as a result of this flushing process, but water quality is not affected. Discoloured water will clear, but it’s best to wait until it has cleared before doing laundry.

We will be posting regular updates here, on Twitter and on our website to let people know where hydrant flushing will take place that day.

Please note that the hydrant flushing schedule is not fixed. It changes every day depending on a number of factors, including the weather, availability of staff and the length of time it takes to clear the hydrants in a neighbourhood.

CHRISTMAS TREE / LEAF and YARD WASTE COLLECTION

REMINDER: Christmas trees (real ones, not artificial ones) will be collected at curbside next week (January 10-14), on your regular collection day.

Please remove all decorations, and do not place the tree in a plastic bag. Also, ensure the tree is not buried in the snow.

If you have any other leaf and yard waste, it will also be collected during the week of January 10-14.

Leaf and yard waste, including Christmas trees, can also be dropped off for free at the landfill site during regular business hours.
