From our deep roots, we’ve grown into one of Western Canada’s largest suppliers to commercial and residential landscapers, garden centers, landscape architects and municipalities. We're thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Calgary Horticultural Society. Pictured smiling and holding our 2026 Plant Info Guide are Karina Pantella, Administrative Director (left) and Deborah Maier, Executive Director (right).

This Society was founded in 1908! Just imagine... 118 years and running stronger than ever. That was 62 years before our farm was established!

The Society’s vision is “Gardening for Life!”; our vision is: "The Nursery for Life". Now, that's a perfect fit.

With a network of 4,000 members and 100 plus community gardens, they are Canada's largest and most active gardening group. They boast a library of gardening books and along with garden tours, speakers, hands-on workshops they educate and inspire Calgary gardeners.

We sponsored the Speaker Stage at their annual Calgary Gardeners' Market and had the opportunity to exhibit as well. We had some of the most engaging conversations with hundreds of gardeners and plant lovers from across the city.

We're excited for the possibilities that this partnership offers, and for what we can cultivate together.

On 🌎 Earth Day we celebrate our role in helping turning concrete jungles into urban forests!

You could say, we help bring nature back into the city. We work with countless partners—planners, architects, designers and landscapers—to get trees and plants from the farm into the ground in the city.

We imagine more green in our cities, more oxygen, more life, more possibilities… and it all begins with being great stewards of our little piece of the earth we call Eagle Lake Nurseries.

We’ve created an expert’s guide for landscapers, architects, specifiers, planners and developers.

Our latest edition of the Plant Info Guide gives you the confidence to spec a plant you may not be familiar with. It’s not just about the plant features anymore but about the plant uses… with a focus on climate-resilient landscapes.

We’ve provided detailed information and a feature key to the function of our plants, whether that’s drought tolerance, erosion control, green roof options, or being native/naturalized species.

The power of plants is revealed, quickly and easily.

The new layout also has bigger photos for more visual impact and metric height and spread for our Canadian customers (no more conversions necessary).

From the tailgate to the site, the 2026 Plant Info Guide is field-ready.

Think of it as a tool, no different from a shovel—it is designed to be used.

We built it with double-thick covers, then laminated them as well as the tab dividers for weather-resistance. We put a sturdy wire binding on the spine to keep it all together. We know you’ll be traveling with it, getting it dirty, using it on the fly and then parking it back on the shelf for the next project.

Whether it lives on the truck floor or in your horticulture reference library, we would love to know how you use your Plant Info Guide this year! Please send us stories and pictures.

A highlight for us in March was the 2026 Leadership Forum presented by Landscape Alberta .

This was another invaluable industry forum where our team enjoyed a torrent of expert information and insights from two speakers: Rehana Rajabali, Manager of Natural Environment & Adaptation City of Calgary – Your Local Government and Dr. Charlie Hall, Professor and Economist in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University .

There was good news from the City of Calgary including favourable new watering schedules during the establishment period for trees, shrubs, grasses (sod), and seeds. The City’s Climate & Environment subcommittee is also focused on spreading awareness for drought resilient landscapes and features.

Dr. Charlie Hall’s presentation touched one some powerful topics, including:
• Biophilic Landscape Design that aims to improve well-being, reduce stress, and promote ecological health through sensory-rich, nature-based spaces (Horticulture Therapy)
• Growth in Native Plant interest from 3% - 10 years ago to 14% now
• Differences between Green Infrastructure (GI) and Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI)
• Green Infrastructure investment at the homeowner level generates a higher ROI than kitchen and bathroom renovations!

Overall, this was a huge validation for us to highlight the therapeutic, biophilic, and real estate ROI potential that plants deliver.

We would love to hear your thoughts and we invite more industry conversations on these topics!

We recently participated in the 4th annual Municipal Tree Symposium hosted by Landscape Alberta in Red Deer.

This unique event brings together all the major stakeholders involved with the largest group of end-user trees in the province: producers, landscape architects, contractors and municipalities.

Our industry leans on forums like these, where we discuss shared challenges and vision for the future of trees in our province.

Our popular 2026 Plant Info Guide made an appearance again! We loaded it with extra content in the Appendix to support our landscape architects and contractors on relevant topics today such as, “Native or Naturalized”.

There’s a secret treasure hiding at the back of our 2026 edition of the Plant Info Guide!

It’s a new feature: the Appendix. Now, we don’t usually get too excited about an Appendix in a book but that’s the vault we loaded with horticultural resources and expert knowledge.

Here’s a preview what you’ll find:
• Pollination Charts
• Hardiness Zone and Soil Guide Maps
• Production Strategies for Southern Alberta
• Native or Naturalized
• Trees and Shrubs for Special Purposes
• Caliper Tree Root Ball Sizes
• Container Plant Sizes

We’ve highlighted some sample pages to give you just a taste.

Thank you to Landscape Alberta for bringing together our industry to celebrate creativity and craftsmanship in the best of landscaping.

Our team had the privilege of attending the 2025 Alberta Landscape Awards at Tool Shed Brewing Company. It was a full house, full of good cheer and story-sharing between industry peeps. This was the event where industry leaders, enthusiasts, and visionaries came together to applaud the best in landscape design, construction and maintenance.

It is just one of the events hosted by Landscape Alberta, that keeps our industry connected and continuously improving.

The Bonus: One of our customers, Planta Landscape, was awarded the High Score Award that evening! Congratulations Frank Galdón and María del Sol Galdón and the whole Planta Team—it is so rewarding to see you acknowledged for your work. And congratulations to all the other award winners in other categories that evening.

Please support the Landscape Alberta Nursery Trade Association if you’re in or around this industry, whether your firm is focused on architecture, engineering, development, contracting or consulting. The Green Industry enriches our urban lifestyle, and only grows with the people behind the plants.
