For more than two decades, AgExpert Analyst has been a familiar bookkeeping resource for agricultural businesses, helping producers organize their financial information and support their business decision-making. While FCC is moving away from the legacy software, many of its core functions and familiar features have been carried forward into AgExpert Accounting.

Current AgExpert Analyst users will have time to prepare for the change. Customers can renew the legacy software until November 1, 2026, and the program will no longer be available for purchase after December 31, 2028. This transition period is intended to give producers flexibility in determining when to transfer their existing financial records to AgExpert Accounting.

The Livestock Tax Deferral Provision allows for a portion of sales proceeds to be deferred to the following year, where producers in prescribed regions sell breeding stock due to drought.

The prescribed regions for 2026 were announced September 1st. Wheatland County and surrounding municipalities are not included for 2026.

What’s New in AgriStability for 2026?

1. Pasture related costs are an allowable expense starting in the 2026 program year. This refers to expenses incurred by livestock producers for grazing animals on land they do not own.

2. Coverage notice is available to all participants starting in the 2026 program year. This allows participants to see their estimated benefit trigger point for the current year. It can be requested by the producer from May 1 to December 31 using AFSC Connect and is helpful for producers wondering if they are in a benefit position.

3. Valuation for eligible feed commodity inventories can be calculated using an ending price to value both opening and ending inventory. If this valuation method is elected, declining inventories will not be offset by increases in feed prices in drought conditions. Previous years will need to be restated.

4. Possible changes for 2027 program year – allowing non-arm’s length wages and contract work as eligible expenses.
