What is the most important question to ask a potential payroll provider? (Hint: think "security"!)
As payroll providers ourselves, we'd suggest that question is, "Are you SOC2, Type II certified?"
Here's why: SOC2 Type II is an internationally recognized standard that ensures the most stringent security protocols are in place to PROTECT PERSONAL DATA (i.e. any information that identifies an individual) that resides in the payroll software. This typically includes each employee's name, address, telephone number, birth date, social insurance number, e-mail address, employment information, and more.
So if the answer you get the that question is "NO", you may want to look elsewhere! (Oh, just for the record, our answer is "YES!" WorkLinks is SOC2 Type II certified - and darn proud of it!)

We're halfway through CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH!
WorkLinks has your Payroll data covered, but here are a few tips on how to LOWER YOUR RISK of cyberattacks:
- Enable 2FA/MFA (aka multifactor authentication) to add an extra layer of protection against hacking if your password is compromised.
- Use long, random passwords with mixed case, upper/lower and special characters. Even better: get a password manager software app to create and store them!
- Think before you click a link or scan a QR code! They can be embedded with malware or lure you to a phishing site where you may be duped into disclosing personal or financial information.
- Keep your devices as safe as possible with the latest security patches by enabling automatic software updates.
- Consider security awareness training with professional providers: one can never be too safe when it comes to cybersecurity!
