Have you ever finished giving an employee feedback and realized you gave them so much to work on that neither of you knew where to begin?

Improve your communication.

Be more organized.

Follow up faster.

Pay closer attention to detail.

Show more initiative.

Every point may be valid. But when they all arrive at once, the employee often walks away overwhelmed instead of motivated.

Try coaching one improvement at a time.

Choose the behaviour that would make the biggest difference right now. Make it specific, practise it together, and agree on how you will measure progress.

If someone is struggling with sales, do not hand them the entire sales process and say, “Get better.”

Start with one skill:

“On your next five calls, ask one more follow-up question before presenting the solution.”

Now they know what to do. You know what to observe. And your next coaching conversation has a clear place to begin.

Great coaching is not about saying everything you notice.

It is about identifying what matters most and helping someone improve it consistently.

You walk in carrying the week with you.

The difficult decision.

The problem you have been trying to solve alone.

The conversation you know you need to have, but have not had yet.

Then someone asks the right question.

You pause. You look at the situation differently. Suddenly, the next step feels a little clearer.

That was this morning’s MasterMIND.

There was no pitching and no pressure to have all the answers. Just business owners speaking honestly about what is working, what is difficult, and where they need to move forward.

Sometimes the biggest breakthrough does not come from being given an answer.

It comes from finally having the space to say the real problem out loud.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, contributed, and helped another business owner see a way forward.

Were you there? Share your biggest takeaway below.

Have you ever “won” a negotiation, then realized the relationship did not survive it?

You got the price you wanted.

The other person agreed.

But they never came back. They never referred anyone. And every conversation after that felt a little harder.

That is because a signed deal is not always a successful deal.

Every negotiation starts with an interaction style:

Win/Win: We both benefit.
Win/Lose: I get what I want at your expense.
Lose/Win: I give in to avoid conflict.
Lose/Lose: We fight until nobody wins.
Win: I focus only on my outcome.
Win/Win or No Deal: We find a fair agreement, or respectfully walk away.

For business owners, the most useful question is not only, “How do I close this?”

Ask:

“Can this agreement protect our value while creating a meaningful result for the other person?”

That does not mean discounting until everyone is happy.

It means understanding what matters to both sides, protecting the value you provide, and building an agreement you can both feel good about six months from now.

Winning one conversation feels good.

Building trust, repeat business, and referrals is better.

Before your next negotiation, decide which outcome you are trying to create.

Have you ever hired someone who was brilliant in the interview, but completely different once they started working?

They were confident. Easy to talk to. They said all the right things.

A few weeks later, the warning signs appeared.

Deadlines were missed. Customers became frustrated. The team had to pick up the slack. Before long, you were back doing the work you hired them to handle.

The problem may not have been the person alone. It may have been the interview.

When every candidate gets a different conversation, hiring decisions often come down to personality and gut feeling.

Try a more structured approach:

Choose the skills and behaviours the role requires.
Ask every candidate the same behavioural questions.
Score each answer from one to five.
Compare evidence, not charisma.

For example, if accountability matters, ask:

“Tell me about a time you made a mistake at work. What did you do next?”

Then listen for ownership, action, and learning.

Five candidates. Five consistent questions. One scorecard.

That gives you something real to compare.

A better team starts with a better hiring process.
