Planning to study in Canada and think you may already be a Canadian citizen through ancestry? 🇨🇦

You may be able to request urgent processing of your proof of citizenship application if you need your citizenship certificate for education.
With standard processing times now at around 25 months, this could be an important option if your studies are approaching.
You’ll need evidence of your Canadian studies, such as an acceptance letter and tuition information, along with your complete citizenship application.
And if your citizenship is confirmed, you may generally qualify for domestic tuition rates and avoid the work restrictions that apply to international students.

If your work permit is expiring while your employer’s LMIA is still pending, this change could be important for you.

Canada has extended the concurrent processing period for certain in-Canada TFWP work permit applications from 60 days to 90 days, giving eligible applicants additional time to provide proof of a positive or neutral LMIA.

To qualify, your situation generally needs to meet specific requirements, including:

Your work permit expires in two weeks or less
Your employer has submitted a complete LMIA application
The LMIA decision is still pending
The LMIA was submitted with enough lead time for a decision to reasonably have been expected

If eligible, your work permit application can be submitted while the LMIA is still being processed, and IRCC can hold the application for up to 90 days while you provide the LMIA result.

Don’t leave your status to chance.

Are you applying for Canadian citizenship by descent as a family? 🇨🇦

You may be wondering: Should we submit our applications together or separately?

The answer depends on your family’s circumstances.
Submitting together can keep your applications organized, but each family member still needs their own complete application and supporting documents. If one application has missing information or documentation, it can create delays or complications for the family’s applications.

Before you submit, make sure you understand the risks and which option makes the most sense for your family.

This case is worth sharing because it shows something many applicants do not realize: IRCC is not perfect, and a refusal can be challenged when the evidence supports it.

Her mom’s Super Visa was refused because IRCC stated that she did not comply with the medical request. But after carefully reviewing the file, we found that she had actually attended the medical examination. The medical process was still ongoing because additional physician-requested follow-up tests were required.

We submitted the evidence, asked for reconsideration, and today we got to tell her daughter the good news: Super Visa approved.

If this family had handled the refusal alone, they may not have known that the decision could be questioned. This is why proper representation matters — especially when the file becomes complicated.

At iConnectGlobal Immigration, we do not just submit applications. We stand with our clients when things go wrong.

Congratulations to this beautiful family. Your dream of being together in Canada is finally happening.

What if the next Express Entry priorities are influenced by public feedback? 👀🇨🇦

Canada is consulting the public on the economic priorities and categories it’s considering for Express Entry in 2027.

IRCC is looking at priorities including:
🔹 Long-term labour shortages
🔹 Attracting and retaining highly skilled talent
🔹 Francophone immigration outside Quebec

And this is important: these are priorities under consideration — not finalized 2027 categories.
IRCC is asking for feedback before moving forward.
🗓️ Consultation closes September 1, 2026
If you have an opinion on what Canada’s economic immigration system should prioritize, this is your opportunity to participate.

🇨🇦 VISITOR VISA APPROVED IN LESS THAN A MONTH! 🎉

This one is worth sharing because, on paper, this was not your typical “strong” visitor visa profile.

Our client is a senior applying from the Philippines:

❌ No previous international travel
❌ No employment
❌ No properties under her name
❌ Limited personal financial capacity

But she had something very important: strong and genuine family support and a legitimate reason for her visit.

Instead of trying to make her application look like something it wasn't, we worked with the circumstances she actually had. We explained the apparent weaknesses, documented the family relationships and financial support, and presented a clear and credible purpose for her temporary visit.

📅 Biometrics: July 19, 2026
🎉 APPROVED: August 17, 2026

Less than a month!

This is a good reminder that a visitor visa application is not just about having properties, employment, a big bank account or an extensive travel history.

Every application has its own story. The key is knowing how to present the whole picture clearly, honestly and strategically.

Congratulations to our client and her family! 🇨🇦❤️

No perfect profile. No manufactured story. Just a carefully prepared application based on the facts.
