The temporary IRCC public policy that allows certain permanent residents to sponsor previously undeclared family members will end on September 10, 2026.

If you did not declare an eligible family member during your immigration application, this may be your last opportunity to benefit from this public policy.

⚠️ After September 10, 2026, this policy will no longer be available.

🚨 Important Update for In-Canada Work Permit Applicants 🇨🇦

If you’re applying for a work permit from inside Canada and your employer is still waiting for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), you may still be able to submit your work permit application.

✅ IRCC may allow up to 90 days to provide a positive LMIA (and a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), if required) if:

• Your current work permit expires in 2 weeks or less
• Your employer has already submitted a complete LMIA application
• The LMIA application was submitted early enough for normal processing
• No decision has been made on the LMIA yet

⚠️ This exception helps eligible workers maintain their status while waiting for their LMIA decision.

📢 BC PNP Announces Eligibility Criteria for Temporary Cleaning & Security Initiative 🇨🇦

The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has released eligibility requirements for workers in select cleaning and security occupations employed by B.C. public health authorities.

✅ Eligible Occupations
• NOC 64410 – Security Guards and Related Security Service Occupations
• NOC 65310 – Light Duty Cleaners
• NOC 65312 – Janitors, Caretakers, and Heavy-Duty Cleaners

✅ Key Requirements
• Be a direct employee of a B.C. public health authority
• Hold a full-time, permanent (indeterminate) job offer
• Have employer support for the BC PNP application
• Work in an eligible rural or remote B.C. location
• Complete at least 9 consecutive months of full-time employment with the same employer
• Meet minimum income requirements
• Have completed at least secondary (high school) education

⚠️ Important: Express Entry BC (EEBC) is not available under this initiative.

Starting April 1, 2026, eligible students can complete co-op placements or internships using just their study permit.
