IRCC held another French-language proficiency draw today (Draw #414).
4,000 ITAs. CRS cut-off: 400.

That's five French-language draws in 2026. Over 26,000 invitations issued under this single category.

Right beside that sits a harder reality: Canadian Experience Class draw at 514 yesterday.

People already in Canada who are working, paying taxes, building lives here: watching the bar stay high while category draws move at a very different threshold.

This isn't a fairness argument, and it's not a criticism of Francophone selection. The policy rationale is clear.

But it is a signal. Express Entry is no longer a general-pool system; it's category-driven. And your strategy needs to reflect that.

What that means practically:

There are ways forward: PNPs, genuine category alignment, and careful profile work. But the goal is a plan you can defend, not a timeline you're hoping for.

šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Two Express Entry draws in two days.

On April 27, IRCC issued 473 PNP invitations with a CRS cut-off of 795.
On April 28, IRCC issued 2,000 CEC invitations with a CRS cut-off of 514.

Draws are continuing, which is a positive sign. But the trend is also clear: CEC draw sizes have reduced, with only 2,000 invitations issued in each of the last two CEC rounds.

If you received an invitation, this is the time to prepare your PR application carefully and professionally. And if you are close to the cut-off, this is the time to review your score and see what can still be improved.

BC PNP is back - but not in the way many applicants were waiting for.

As of April 23, 2026, BC has made its direction clear:

Care. Build. Innovate.

In simple words, BC is prioritizing healthcare workers, certified tradespeople, and candidates who can show high economic value to the province.

Healthcare is a major priority, including RNs, LPNs, pharmacists, lab technologists, sonographers, social workers, ECEs, and veterinarians.

But this is not just about work experience.

BC is clearly looking for proper licensing, registration, certification or education. ECEs need a BC ECE certificate. Certain healthcare support workers need to be on the proper registry. Social and community service workers need a relevant diploma or degree.

For trades, BC wants construction tradespeople with a valid SkilledTradesBC certificate matching the job offer. Foreign experience alone may not be enough.
And what about finance, marketing, IT, admin, retail, operations and other non-priority sectors?

The regular Skilled Worker stream has not disappeared. But invitations are becoming much more targeted.

BC PNP now looks at the full picture: your occupation, wage, employer, location, credentials, and the economic value you bring to the province.

The ELSS stream is closed. The dedicated tech draw is done. No new international student stream is coming.

Also important: at least 35% of nominations are expected to go to people working outside Metro Vancouver. For applicants in smaller BC communities, this can be a real strategic advantage.

BC PNP is becoming a more selective program built around the right occupation, right credentials, right employer, right wage, and increasingly, the right location.

If you are in the BC PNP pool and unsure where you stand, this is the time to review your profile properly.

TR→PR for 33,000 workers: beyond the headlines

Recent comments from Canada’s Immigration Minister add a few important clues about the new one‑time TR→PR pathway:

- It’s for people already in Canada, working and paying taxes.

- She signalled a focus on those outside big CMAs like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.

- She referenced workers who’ve been here ā€œalmost two yearsā€, but did not confirm a strict 24‑month cutoff.

- She has not announced a specific sector or occupation list yet.

What this means in practice:

- If you’re in a smaller city or rural community and have steady Canadian work experience, this pathway is clearly designed with you in mind.

- Your best move right now is to:

- Keep your status valid,

- Organize proof of work + taxes, and

- Be ready to act quickly once official criteria are published.

This is not 2021’s open TR→PR replay. It’s a targeted bridge for about 33,000 well‑established workers.

If you’re a temporary worker and want to see where you stand against what we do know so far, happy to walk through your situation one‑on‑one.

Eight years ago today: April 10, 2018 - ELAAR was born.
I’m sitting with a lot of gratitude.

To the thousands of clients who’ve trusted us over the years - thank you. Whether you came to Canada to visit family, study, take on a work opportunity, or build a permanent life here, you brought us something personal. We’ve never taken that trust lightly.

Back in 2018, after two decades in advertising & marketing, I changed careers because I wanted to do work that truly impacts people’s lives.

Immigration isn’t just about forms and approvals: it’s about real people making big decisions while carrying pressure, uncertainty, and timelines that often feel unfair.

In marketing, success is measured in numbers.
In immigration, success shows up in lives changed, and the responsibility that comes with that is different.

The last eight years haven’t always been smooth. COVID slowed everything down. Policies shifted. Rules kept evolving. Yet through it all, one standard remained the same: clear advice and calm ex*****on.

And I couldn’t have done that without my team.
Thank you for showing up as you do - for the long days, the attention to detail, the follow-ups, and the steady support clients feel on the other side. I’m proud to build ELAAR with you.

We’re not ā€œdone.ā€ There’s more we want to create. But I’m deeply proud of what we’ve built so far, and grateful for the lives we’ve been able to support along the way.

As we step into the next chapter, we’ll keep growing thoughtfully and stay grounded in what we’ve always stood for:

In immigration, we make the complex simple.

Good to finally see this draw.

We keep hearing that Canada needs skilled trades workers, and that is true. But when trades are this important to the labour market, the selection rounds should show that too.

This latest Express Entry draw under the Trades category issued 3,000 ITAs with a CRS cut-off of 477.

A positive step. Hopefully, this is not just a one-time draw. Trades workers have been needed for a long time.
