In the last four years, 80 new fire fighter positions have been added in Surrey. Fire Halls 11 and 15 are being expanded, and steps are being taken toward a new hall in North Surrey. From 2011 to 2021, the fire service grew by 10 positions.

That is progress, and the city has kept growing too. Surrey is home to 733,760 people, 265,509 more than in 2011. About 450 of us work out of 15 halls, which is one fire fighter for every 1,600 residents. The industry benchmark is one for every 1,000.

Council sets the fire service budget, decides how many of us are on shift, and decides where the next hall gets built. Advance voting is this Wednesday and Thursday, October 14 and 15. General voting day is Saturday, October 17.

If that matters to you, vote.

We've made progress. Let's keep it going.

Happy Thanksgiving, Surrey.

Crews are on shift across the city today, the same as every other day of the year. Holidays do not change the call volume, so somebody has to be there, and our members are glad it's them.

We're thankful for the people who have backed this campaign since September, and for four years that moved in the right direction: 80 new positions, expansions underway at Halls 11 and 15, and steps toward a new hall in North Surrey.

There's more to do, and this week is when it gets decided. Advance voting is October 14 and 15. General voting day is Saturday, October 17.

SURREY SHOWDOWN – WHAT A NIGHT!

Surrey, you showed up in a BIG way!

A huge thank you to everyone who packed South Surrey Arena last night to cheer us on and help raise funds in support of youth initiatives across Surrey!

It was a hard-fought, tight game between Surrey Fire Fighters and Surrey Police, with our firefighters coming out on top with a 1–0 victory!

But the biggest win of the night was for our community!

Together, we raised over $22,000 in NET proceeds, supporting local youth initiatives through the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society!

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, organizers, players and everyone who purchased tickets, donated auction items or contributed to making this inaugural event such a success.

We can’t wait for next year’s rematch!
