📸 ICYMI: The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade held Shaping the Next Decade: SWRBOT AGM & Business Forum, bringing together business and community leaders to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future of the region.

The program included the induction of Roger Steers as Board Chair. SWRBOT also recognized Rory Morgan as he moves into the role of Past Chair.

The event featured a panel on The Next Decade of Surrey, a discussion on the growth, investment, innovation, infrastructure, and workforce trends shaping the future of the region.

Today, we extend our deepest gratitude to Rory Morgan as he concludes his historic tenure as Chair of the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade.

Rory served an unprecedented three years as Chair, providing steady leadership during one of the most transformative periods in our organization's history. Through the merger of two respected business organizations and a leadership transition, Rory's vision, dedication, and commitment helped guide us forward with confidence and purpose.

Because of his leadership, we stand here today as a stronger, unified organization. The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade is Rory's legacy - an organization built through collaboration, perseverance, and a shared commitment to serving our business community.

No words or gesture can truly repay the impact Rory has had on this organization. His time, energy, wisdom, and dedication have helped shape who we are today and positioned us for a strong future.

The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade is pleased to welcome Roger Steers, Executive Principal at RJC Engineers, as Board Chair.

Roger steps into the role after five years on the Board, bringing a strong commitment to governance, collaboration, and delivering meaningful value for SWRBOT members.

“I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade at a time when our communities are experiencing unprecedented growth and opportunity,” said Roger Steers, Board Chair. “Businesses are navigating rapid change, and the role of the Board of Trade has never been more important.”

In his incoming Chair remarks, Roger highlighted the role SWRBOT plays in ensuring the voice of business is heard, while creating opportunities for connection, collaboration, learning, and advocacy.

SWRBOT also welcomes Amrita Bhogal as Vice Chair and Board Directors Gurdip Sahota, Li Gong and Nathan Van Kuyk.

This week, the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade continued to advance advocacy, public safety, health innovation, business engagement, and regional partnerships across Surrey, White Rock, and the broader region.

📸 1-3: CEO Joslyn Young and Policy & Media Advisor Aman Parmar met with Minister of State for Community Safety and Integrated Services, Terry Yung, joined by Madeleine Nicholls, CEO of the Downtown Surrey BIA, to discuss crime, public safety, and impacts on local businesses.

📸 4-8: CEO Joslyn Young and COO Indra Bhan attended the Mayor’s Forum on Healthcare and Innovation in Surrey, hosted by the City of Surrey's Investment, Innovation, and Business Committee and Invest Surrey Surrey, and opened by The Mayor of Surrey, BC, Brenda Locke.

Joslyn was also joined by Emma Morgan, a recent SFU graduate and daughter of SWRBOT Board Chair Rory Morgan, who shadowed her for the day.

📸 9-11: CEO Joslyn Young and COO Indra Bhan played in the Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament, as guests of Kim Halowski and Siraz Dalmir of FortisBC, supporting crime prevention and safer communities.

📸 12: CEO Joslyn Young met with The Mayor of Surrey, BC Brenda Locke to discuss economic growth, infrastructure, public safety, and continued collaboration with City of Surrey business community.

📸 13: COO Indra Bhan met with Ashish Arora, Head of BMO Business Banking, Western Canada, as part of SWRBOT’s ongoing engagement with business and financial leaders.

📸 14: CEO Joslyn Young met with Surrey mayoral candidate Troy Van Vliet. Joslyn plans to sit down with mayoral candidates in the months ahead to better understand their platform priorities and how they relate to our business community.

📸 15-16: Business Development & Member Relations Specialists Sara Walters and Karan Kukreja attended the Annual Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society Golf Tournament, where SWRBOT participated as a hole sponsor in support of the Society’s charitable work and community impact across Surrey.

📸 17-18: COO Indra Bhan attended Civic Hotel, Autograph Collection’s client appreciation event and FIFA Watch Party overlooking the Surrey Soccer FIFA Fan Zone at Civic Plaza. She was joined by Board Director Gurjinder Bhurji and other business leaders for a World Cup-inspired gathering focused on local connection, sport, celebration, and appreciation.
