The past two weeks our first year Maritime College of Forest Technology students focused on developing practical forestry skills through a combination of classroom instruction, field exercises, and operational site visits. Students completed plantation assessments for Tree Canada while gaining hands-on experience with mapping software, and silviculture operations currently being used in the field.

Training began with brush saw safety and operation, covering proper handling procedures, maintenance, PPE, cutting techniques, and hazard awareness. After classroom sessions, students moved into field applications where they practiced identifying crop trees, evaluating surrounding competition, and applying vegetation removal techniques to improve stand development and growing conditions.

We are thrilled to have these guys a part of our team for the summer!

Images from today's boundary line reconnaissance completed by two of our employees.

The last time these lines were run was back in 1982. There was minimal evidence and faint blazes remaining.
