SUMAYYA MULLASSERY
Sumayya Mullassery is originally from India and has proudly called Cape Breton home for the past three years. She currently serves as the Connector Program Coordinator with the Cape Breton Partnership, where she supports youth, newcomers, and recent graduates in building meaningful connections and accessing opportunities across the region.
Beyond her professional role, Sumayya is an active community volunteer and serves on the boards of L’Arche Cape Breton and the Rackets & Paddle Association of Cape Breton. She is passionate about bringing people together, strengthening community connections, and creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
MAHESH PRABHU
Mahesh Prabhu is a hospitality professional, community advocate, and passionate storyteller whose journey has taken him across six countries before proudly calling Unama'ki–Cape Breton, Canada, home. In early 2022, Mahesh and his family settled on the island, embracing its people, culture, and vibrant community.
Currently serving as the Food and Beverage Manager at the Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront, Mahesh brings decades of international experience in luxury hospitality, culinary arts, and guest service. Beyond his professional role, he is an active member of the local arts community as a board member of HAT Theatre and an enthusiastic performer who enjoys bringing stories to life on stage. Since 2024, Mahesh has served on the Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership’s Immigrant Advisory Table, supporting newcomers and fostering inclusive communities. He also volunteers his time with the Multicultural Association, reflecting his commitment to helping others feel at home in Cape Breton.
Whether in hospitality, theatre, or community service, Mahesh is known for building meaningful connections, celebrating cultural diversity, and making the most of Cape Breton’s beautiful summer season.
