I am sorry to the people that showed up today but I am currently in Halifax getting radiation treatments and thought I did update ... as everyone is aware the covid case numbers have been up in the Sydney area ... because it is not safe for our employees to handle the containers we are closed ... I promise I will update on Sunday ... if the cases start to level off we will be open next week Monday and Tuesday... sorry

Just a little update ... with the announcement yesterday of province wide lock down ... we ask that you still continue to pre count your recyclables... clearly mark the amount on the bag .. if at all possible use clear bags ... the safety of my staff comes first .. kids are home now and what a better way for them to get some math into their daily routine... I pray that everyone stays safe ! We will be open Monday and Tuesday 9-4 !

It has recently been brought to my attention that people are complaining about having to have their beverage containers counted ... with that being said I have to try and defend my position on this . We are entering a critical stage in covid .. the words of premier Steven MacNeil this is not the time to let our guard down ! I feel the safety of our staff comes first . These are beverage containers that people have their mouths on .. not everyone rinses their containers .. if people could only see what we handle in the run of a day .. dirty diapers , needles,used condoms , panties , socks , underwear, vomit yes we have gotten in all , food waste is really bad .. .. one day I asked a customer to please remove the used condom from our table and his response was , “that’s my roommates”... Every business has guidelines to protect their staff and I am asking each and every one of you to please count your bottles .. if you count them then I surely think if there is anything there that shouldn’t be you have the decency to remove it . I have been notified that it is in our contract to count customers... these guidelines were in place for 25 years before covid ... Do I appreciate your business... yes I do .. it’s bread and butter on my table .. but I can not put a value on our employees health ...i am taking a firm stand on this and if that means loosing our license then so be it .. my staff come first

To the nice young lady that decided to curse us out because we told you caps had to be removed ... as you screamed it’s our job .. but we are to lazy and just want to sit down ... let me make you aware that since Recycling started 21 years ago caps were to be removed .. also incase you are to stund to realize.. we have a virus that has been around for 2 months .. you drink out of those bottles and are you aware that you put saliva on the tops .. are you to lazy to throw your caps in the garbage... I try to accommodate everyone but I will not take abuse .. and please stop calling our answering machine leaving your nasty messages

Re-opening Monday May 25 2020.... to ensure safety for our staff we are only accepting pre counted items only !!! Items are to be in clear bags and marked ! We are not permitted to handle items until after 3 days .. therefore items need to be counted ! No caps allowed on containers .. only open Monday and Tuesday 9-4 ...
