♦️The Evacuation Alerts issued in Electoral Area D on August 1 in response to the Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351) are unchanged overnight. ♦️

πŸ‘‰ Weather reports indicate higher temperatures and winds as compared to yesterday’s weather, which is increasing the risk of fire spread. Residents are strongly advised to keep their emergency preparations in place. The situation can change rapidly.

βœ… Information is available in the Shuswap Emergency Program Community Evacuation Guide: https://www.csrd.bc.ca/581/Community-Evacuation-Guide

πŸ”· We want to extend our appreciation to CSRD fire crews from Tappen Sunnybrae, Shuswap, White Lake and Eagle Bay, along with BC Wildfire crews for extinguishing a structure fire in Tappen and keeping it from igniting the neighbouring forest. This was a serious concern and we deeply appreciate their work in keeping the community safe. πŸ”·

πŸ‘‰ The Shuswap Emergency Program will be meeting with BC Wildfire later this morning to get updated information. We will continue to update our website and social media today.
The best source for wildfire-related updates is the BC Wildfire Service Dashboard: https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/map

πŸš— Road closures continue on Highway 97 at Salmon River Road and Heywood Armstrong Road. If you are driving from Kamloops to Vernon, please use Highway 1. Road closures may also take place with limited notice. Please check Drive BC for updates. https://www.drivebc.ca/

CSRD fire crews are reporting that a structure fire in the Vella Road area of Tappen is being held to the single affected property at this time.

The Tappen Sunnybrae, Shuswap, White Lake and Eagle Bay Fire Departments remain on scene, however, it is not believed the fire will spread beyond the current boundaries. BC Wildfire is also still providing support to prevent any further spread of the fire.

The home has been completely destroyed. Supports are being provided to the homeowner through the Shuswap Emergency Program’s Emergency Support Services.

Nearby residents do not have to take any further action.
