I recently facilitated an employee retreat focused on change, coping, and connection.
In roles where people are consistently using their mental and emotional energy to support others, having time away from the day-to-day to reset and reconnect can be really beneficial.
There’s a concept in the profession of psychotherapy called the safe and effective use of self — the idea that how we show up matters, and that we need to have something in the tank to be able to support others well. It’s not always talked about in workplace settings, but it’s a useful way to think about sustainability in people-focused roles.
Always appreciate the opportunity to do this work.
