Getting to Nanabosho Lookout in the winter is not easy, but it's pretty satisfying! This 8.5 km hike (17 km return) is a great full day hike if you want to challenge yourself to climb the Giant in the winter since it doesn't take as long to compete as the Top of the Giant trail.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here's how you get there:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Start at the South Kabeyun Trailhead (aka the main parking lot off Highway 587)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Head down the Kabeyun trail (the main trail) for 0.4 km of easy hiking until you hit the first junction (the East Sawyer Bay Trail Junction)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Turn right (west) onto the Sawyer Bay trail and follow it for 5.5 km of moderately hard hiking (it's a nice wide trail but there are a few hills)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Turn left (south) onto the Talus Lake Trail at the North Talus Lake Trail Junction⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Hike a challenging 1.8 km on the Talus Lake Trail until you get to the Nanabosho Lookout Trail Junction⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Turn right (north) onto the Nanabosho Lookout Trail for 0.8 km of challenging hiking to the spectacular Nanabosho Lookout⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠ Enjoy the view and retrace your steps to get back⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It takes most hikers 4 - 6 hours to complete this challenging and rewarding hike in the summer. For winter hiking, you can double or even triple this estimate depending on snow conditions. Be prepared for a full day! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember to buy a park pass before your hike to avoid getting a ticket at the trailhead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Have you hiked this trail in the winter? I'd love to hear how it went!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
