Since 2010, CE Strategies has partnered with First Nation and Métis communities, along with their supporting organizations, to provide essential tools and services that promote informed decision-making for future planning. CE Strategies is a Northwestern Ontario company dedicated to combining community and regional development strategies with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). At CE Strategies,

Hello September! 🌻

It was an exciting summer at CES! Our team travelled to communities across Ontario and Manitoba to support projects that ensure informed decision making, community planning, and capacity building.

Our work continues into the fall as we complete traditional knowledge interviews, participate in a caribou monitoring study, and facilitate drone training courses!

Last week we were invited to Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek!

Rylie was joined by Jay, from Toews Environmental and Aquatic Services, to attend the Family Wellbeing Camp and speak to members and their families about the environment.

Through activities, conversations, and surveys, members and families shared their vision for a healthy environment and thriving future for the community and one lucky member got to take home a fantastic camping prize package!

We'll take all of the community feedback and prepare a summary to identify key priorities and areas of focus for their updated Environmental Management Plan and Source Water Protection Plan!

Big thanks to Jess for organizing the visit, and to the Family Wellbeing team for having us at the event!

The moments, memories, and history shared during the traditional knowledge gathering process can be used in incredibly impactful ways.
🔸Documented teachings can be used to teach youth and support land-based education.
🔸Knowledge is complied into a GIS database that support the protection and preservation of sacred sites, as well as inform community planning.
🔸Video recordings of community Elders can be compiled to honor an individual or community for future generations.

Recently members of our GIS team, Ericka and Clody, visited Sandy Bay First Nation!

This data collection trip is part of our project with Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council to support emergency mapping initiatives. This includes GIS support services, drone imagery, infrastructure inventories, and customized training for four DOTC communities!
