Terry Niemi, known affectionately by his grandchildren as "Papa Hunny," of Nolalu, Ontario, passed away quietly and peacefully on August 10, 2026, with his devoted wife, Catherine, by his side.
Born on July 14, 1956, Terry was a man of immense strength and knowledge. He could fix absolutely anything. With just a single phone call, he had the rare ability to envision a problem and calmly walk someone through the solution—whether it was a tractor mishap, an unusual vehicle noise, a plumbing debacle, or a broken furnace. He was a pillar of support for his family and neighbors alike, always ready to share his wisdom and a helping hand. When he wasn't fixing things, Terry found true happiness in the outdoors, especially when he was out hunting.
Above all, Terry deeply loved his family and the beautiful life he built with Catherine. He encouraged Catherine to get her motorcycle license and her own bike, and together, they went on numerous trips—riding side-by-side on their motorcycles, creating a lifetime of cherished adventures and open-road memories. Some of his absolute favourite moments were spent on Family Day, listening to his kids share stories of their own adventures in Devon and Baril Bay. Nothing brought him greater joy than the moments spent with his grandchildren, who will forever cherish the love, lessons, and laughter they shared with their Papa Hunny. For those who were lucky enough to walk through life beside him, there was never a question that life was better because Terry was in it. He leaves an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine; his six children, Thomas, Jessica, James, Cody, Evan, and Colt’n; his cherished grandchildren; and a community that will miss his presence and guidance dearly.

Celebration of Life:
A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 4th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Nolalu Community Centre.
In honour of Terry’s deep desire to bring the community together, young and old alike, the family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Terry Niemi Memorial Skating Rink. Funds raised will go directly toward building a year-round outdoor rink for the community, and Terry's company, The Rusty Bucket, will be proudly donating lumber in his honour to help build this dream.
Contributions to this adventure can be made in the following ways:
