September 11, 2001, was one of the most humbling and heartbreaking moments in a generation of emergency responders worldwide.

Today, we hold this day close to our hearts and pause to remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, first responders, and civilians who lost their lives.

In their honour, we continue the tradition they embodied ,serving, protecting, and standing beside the communities we are called to serve.

We remember their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We remember their families.
We remember.

🚒 Community Notice!

You may notice some extra activity around Sanders Street tonight as some of our firefighters conduct a training exercise utilizing a house to simulate a real emergency scenario.

No emergency , just our crews training to keep our community safe!

Neighbours, please don’t be alarmed if you see firefighters in the area. Everything is part of our planned training exercise.

This year's theme is:
"Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower"

Join us to learn safe charging habits and discover how to prevent fires involving lithium-ion batteries. This year's campaign aims to educate the public about fire prevention related to lithium-ion batteries, helping reduce the risk of home fires and associated hazards.

Enjoy an evening of:
🔥 Fire trucks and emergency equipment displays
👨‍🚒 Hands-on experiences with our team
🚒 Live demonstrations
🔋 Fire safety education and charging safety tips
🍩 Food and refreshments

Food will be provided while quantities last by Rapid Relief Team and our friends at Tim Hortons.

This event is free and open to the public. Bring your family, meet your local firefighters, and learn how simple safety practices can help protect your home and loved ones.

🎒🚸 BACK TO SCHOOL MEANS WATCH FOR CHILDREN! 🚸🎒

The first week of school is here, and that means more children walking, biking, and being dropped off around our community.

🚗 Slow down. Stay alert. Put the phone away.
👀 Watch carefully at crosswalks, school zones, intersections, and driveways.
🚌 Be patient around school buses and school drop-off areas.

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference.

Moving into a new place for school is exciting. Remember to plan your way out.

Students have so many things to think about when moving into a new place but fire safety matters too. Before a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds, plan two ways out of every room and plan a meeting spot outside which saves critical time in an emergency.

Fire Safety Plan: Review fire safety information provided by your landlord.

Bedrooms: Make sure windows and doors open easily
Hallways/Stairs: Keep exits clear of boxes, bags, shoes and clutter.
Roommates: Agree on a meeting spot outside and make sure everyone knows the plan.
Practice: Walk the escape routes so you don’t have to figure it out under pressure.
