👉 The direct way of laying laminate flooring is the easiest. Boards are fastened one to another parallel to the wall with locks. This laying is also called "deck", as the floor resembles the deck of a ship. The direction of laying the laminate with this method is from the door to the windows (walls).
🔸 As already noted, laying a laminate with your own hands in a direct way is simple and easy. At the same time, material savings are noticeable: up to 7% of the total volume is spent on trimming. The panels are placed parallel to the walls along the line of light or against it. The first option is preferable, because it allows you to simulate a continuous monolithic surface. Cross-laying is recommended in small rooms to visually expand the space, but you need to accept that the joints will be visible.
🔸 Diagonal laying of laminate is quite difficult. Lamellas are laid at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the walls. The peculiarity of this method is that it helps to visually expand the space. In this case, however, the laminate will need about 20-30% more than with the usual laying method.
🔸 Diagonal styling allows you to visually increase the area of \u200b\u200bthe room. Installation of lamellas starts from the corner of the room or from the center in a checkerboard pattern strictly at an angle of 45 °. The work requires special care, so the craftsmen use a stretched cord as a guide and first connect the end locks of the lamellas.
🔸 Having collected the first row, the second one begins in parallel with it. The edge slats must be cut exactly at an angle that matches the outline of the wall. For this purpose, measure the distance from the top of the row to the spacer peg and transfer as dots to the panel, and then cut it.
🔸 No-threshold styling is a task for a true master, since at the slightest mistake you will have to start all the work again. It is better to entrust laying floors in a non-threshold way to a highly qualified specialist.
🔸 Non-threshold installation is associated with certain difficulties and requires experience, since you will have to lay the laminate, taking into account the fact that there will be no thresholds between the rooms: you need to fit each plate under the doorway with your own hands. Specialists try to lay boards between rooms in the same direction, otherwise the rooms will still be separated even if there is no threshold.
🔸 Herringbone laminate flooring looks very original and elegant. However, due to the nature of the lock, conventional wide laminate lamellas are not adapted to flooring in this way. If you want to lay laminate in this way, then you need to purchase a special material for this with narrower boards and a different locking system than the traditional one.
👉 Laying a herringbone laminate can only be done by a professional craftsman. Firstly, the material for this type of installation has fastening features. Secondly, the laying technique requires special skill and strict adherence to the pattern, whether it be symmetry, a colorful deck, a checkerboard pattern or a complex pattern. The consumption of material for the "herringbone" is quite large, but in terms of design, as they say, "the game is worth the candle."
