🔥 Great News, Timmins! 🔥

The city-wide fire ban and Ministry restrict fire zone will be lifted effective 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, meaning campfire season is back!

There's nothing quite like gathering around a campfire with family and friends, roasting marshmallows, making s'mores, sharing stories, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Before you light your first fire, remember:

🔥 Follow all City of Timmins burning permit regulations.
🔥 Only burn in approved fire pits and never leave a fire unattended.
🔥 Keep a water source or fire extinguisher nearby.
🔥 Ensure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area.
🔥 Burn only clean, dry wood, never garbage or other prohibited materials.

Let's all do our part to prevent unnecessary fires and keep our communities and forests safe.

🔥 Fire Ban in Effect for the City of Timmins 🔥

The City of Timmins has implemented a Fire Ban due to current conditions that increase the risk of wildland fires.

We ask everyone to do their part to help protect our community, our forests, and our firefighters by respecting the ban.

🚫 During the fire ban:
• No open-air burning.
• No campfires or backyard fire pits.
• Dispose of ci******es safely—never throw them from a vehicle.
• Avoid activities that could create sparks in dry vegetation.
• Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 9-1-1.

Even a small spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire, placing lives, homes, and emergency responders at risk.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Timmins safe. Your cooperation helps reduce the risk of preventable fires and allows emergency crews to focus on protecting our community.

The Timmins Fire Department has issued a city-wide FULL FIRE BAN effective immediately.

NO open fires are permitted within city-limits until further notice. All burning permits have been suspended and Service Timmins is not selling burning permits at this time.

This means:
- NO campfires
- NO burning in outdoor fireplaces
- NO burning in outdoor fire pits
- NO incinerator burning
- NO brush or slash pile burning

Any person setting an open-air fire will be responsible and liable for costs and possible fine.

There is a lack of precipitation and extremely dry conditions. Please cooperate and stay safe.

Timmins is experiencing hot summer temperatures again today, along with wildfire smoke affecting our area. While it's a great day to enjoy the outdoors, it's also important to take a few extra precautions.

🔥 Stay Fire Smart

• Take extra caution for any open burning with a permit as conditions remain dry and fire risk can increase quickly.
• Never discard cigarette butts on the ground or from a vehicle.
• Ensure campfires are only permitted where allowed and are completely extinguished.

• Limit strenuous outdoor activity if you notice smoke or experience irritation.
• Keep windows and doors closed if smoke becomes heavy.

🌫️ Wildfire Smoke Has Reached Timmins Today

Smoke from wildfires is affecting air quality in the Timmins area today. Even if you can't always see heavy smoke, the fine particles can still impact your health. Smoke forecasts indicate that our area is experiencing wildfire smoke conditions.

🚒 Timmins Professional Firefighters encourage everyone to take a few simple precautions:

✅ Reduce strenuous outdoor activities if smoke is noticeable.
✅ Keep windows and doors closed if smoke begins to enter your home.
✅ If you have asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions, keep your medications close by and follow your healthcare provider's advice.
✅ Check on older adults, young children, and neighbours who may be more vulnerable.
✅ If you must be outdoors for extended periods in smoky conditions, consider wearing a well-fitted N95 respirator.

Timmins Fire crews are currently on scene at a structure fire in the 200 block of MacLean Drive.

🚒 Please avoid the area and give emergency crews the space they need to work safely and efficiently. Keeping roadways clear allows firefighters, paramedics, and police to access the scene quickly and helps protect everyone involved.

We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation while crews work to bring the incident under control.

This is a major victory for Canadian firefighters, paramedics, and all first responders.

The Government of Canada has strengthened penalties for individuals who assault firefighters and paramedics while they are performing their duties. These dedicated professionals respond to emergencies every day to protect lives and property, and they deserve to do so without facing violence or intimidation.

Whether responding to a structure fire, motor vehicle collision, medical emergency, or public safety incident, first responders are there to help. Assaulting those who answer the call for help is unacceptable.
