Join us on Sunday, October 4th from 1-3 PM to learn all about American Kestrels, North America’s smallest raptor!

Strix ecological will be presenting their research with American kestrels, giving folks an overview of the kestrel, their work with them, and the data they’ve collected thus far.

After the presentation, we will lead folks out by the far fields to look for hawks and other birds of prey on site.
All ages are welcome, however, the ability to walk on uneven and paved surfaced is a must for the walking portion of this event.

Kate is working through the trail camera photos from the American Marten project, partnership with AlPac and Alberta Trappers Association. Some neat finds! Although mostly nocturnal photos sometimes we find Marten during the day.

Congratulations to Loreley Will Kaps for her publication in the Blue Jay. Nice to see our data out in print.

It was another amazing owl night. We are getting close to wrapping up the season. A record year for breeding owls in Weyerhaeuser and West Fraser’s FMAs!

Another great Owling night! West Fraser is loaded with owls around Hinton this year. Had five species and 16 individuals on 10 stations! Stopped at another spot to listen and heard three more owls. Listen carefully for the great gray owl.
