Overlapping jobs aren’t the issue — inconsistent timelines are.

In Express Entry PR, it’s normal to have:
✅ 2 part-time jobs
✅ full-time + part-time
✅ work + study

What causes risk is when your overlap creates contradictions across your:
• Express Entry profile
• personal history
• employment letters
• supporting proof (pay records, etc.)

Rule: If you worked it, list it. If you’re claiming points for it, make sure your documents support it. (canada.ca)

Example: Job A Jan–Jun + Job B Mar–May is fine—as long as it’s accurate and consistent month-to-month.

New Bill C-12 timing rule (asylum/refugee claims): waiting too long may now affect access to a regular IRB refugee hearing.

What IRCC says is now in effect (for claims made on/after June 3, 2025):
• If a person’s first entry to Canada was after June 24, 2020
• and they make an asylum claim more than 1 year after that first entry

→ the claim won’t be referred to the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) for the standard refugee hearing process.

Why it’s a big deal: many people come as visitors, students, or workers, and only later realize they may need protection. Timing now matters more than before.

IRCC indicates there may still be another process available in some situations — but it’s not the same as the regular IRB hearing, and outcomes/rights may differ.

Before you submit your Express Entry PR file, do this CRS-proof document check. ✅
IRCC can recalculate your points based on your supporting documents.

Common risk areas:
• Employer letter = dates / hours / duties missing → work experience may not count as claimed
• Job title ≠ NOC match (duties must align)
• ECA must be valid (< 5 years) at submission

IRCC also notes: if your CRS drops below the cut-off from your round, you should decline your ITA or your application can be refused.
