Whether you are a professional or just like to take pictures, sometimes it is quiet a challenge to get your family or friends to smile. Here are some tips and tricks I use to get my clients to smile and to get that great looking natural smile.
1. When shooting kids, ask them to say “Fuzzy Pickles” real fast 3 times. Usually that gets a few giggles.
2. Take one shot, then look at the LCD screen puzzled, pause and then say “Oh No! It looks just like you” :)
3. If you are taking a family photo, say “Uh oh, …(name)… has a bo**er in his nose” that usually gets all the kids laughing.
4. After a more formal pose say “Ok, that’s great. Now, pretend like you love each other.”
5. If you are shooting a couple, ask them to kiss then say “Wow, hey now, I said a little kiss, not a full blown makeout session!”
6. Reverse psychology works great sometimes, say “Whatever you do… don’t smile.”
7. And last but not least… when it’s really hard to get everyone to smile, try saying “Don’t worry about smiling, I’ll fix that in Photoshop later on.” :)
