Our mission is to become a significant domestic producer of high purity, high value manganese.

One metal sits behind America’s steel, its batteries and its defense base, and almost none of it is made here.

That metal is manganese. No manganese has been mined in the U.S. in more than 50 years, and there is no domestic production of battery-grade manganese sulfate or electrolytic manganese metal. China dominates both.

Our 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 looks at what that means across three markets:

CEO Brian Savage shares how his background in mining engineering and mine finance shaped his understanding of what it takes to build and finance successful mining projects.

“Before I ran a mining company, I financed them. Mining engineer at Bank of New York, then head of Bank of Montreal’s U.S. Mining group — now BMO Capital Markets. This was the ‘90s: “not in our backyard, shut it down.” We built gold in Nevada and copper abroad anyway. Financing mines teaches you how this industry really works.”

America needs a domestic manganese supply chain. Building one from scratch isn’t simple, but the economics have to work first. So we ran the numbers.

The 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 PEA came back with a 𝐔𝐒$𝟏.𝟑𝟗𝐁 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐍𝐏𝐕, 𝟒𝟑.𝟓% 𝐈𝐑𝐑, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝟐𝟑-𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 from the start of production.

Then we went a step further; our independent FEL-1 plant study came in ~𝟑% 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐄𝐀 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭. The engineering is validating the economics, not the other way around.

𝐂𝐄𝐎 & 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐞: Washington’s priority list right now is rare earths, tungsten, antimony. Manganese isn’t on it, and it should be.

It’s the fourth most used metal on earth, in everything from bridges and buildings to data centers and batteries. You can’t electrify anything without it.

Compared to my banking days, this administration is a complete 180. There’s real support for building critical minerals capacity in the U.S., and not only mines — processing too.

China figured out decades ago that the leverage was in processing, not mining, and they built accordingly. We need to mine in the U.S. and do the processing in the U.S. as well.

𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭: Electric Metals is pleased to announce the positive results of a Front-End Loading 1, Class 5 Costing Study for the planned Gulf Coast processing facility of the Company’s North Star Manganese Project. Hargrove Engineers and Constructors of Mobile, Alabama, completed the Study.

The chemical facility is designed to process manganese ore concentrate shipped by rail from the Company’s Emily, Minnesota project and produce High-Purity Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate through a leaching, purification, and crystallization circuit.

One reason we’re looking at the Gulf Coast, or a port on the eastern seaboard, for the plant: it works in both directions. Today you’d import manganese ore through it. Once domestic demand for HPMSM and electrolytic manganese metal is covered, the same facility can serve an export market.

That’s a five-year-plus horizon, but it’s on the map.
