🇬🇧 Verdejo harvest at Finca Montepedroso is complete. From the heart of the Rueda D.O., Adrián, the fifth generation of the Martínez Bujanda family, shares the results with us.

completed the mechanical harvest over two nights, taking advantage of the cool night air to prevent oxidation of the grapes and thus preserve their aromas.

The intense summer heat may have reduced yields, but the grapes were harvested in excellent condition, with small, concentrated berries and the desired sugar level.

Here we can see the harvesting machines combing the vineyard, and the grapes being unloaded—a cascade of joy that we will be able to taste in a few months.

🇬🇧 Pago de Vallegarcía has already harvested its entire Viognier vineyard from this vintage, which accumulated a lot of water during the winter and thus withstood the intense heat since June.

The harvest has gone smoothly, although there's always room for the unforeseen, such as the accidental breakdown of the destemmer, which broke at the most inopportune moment…

Fortunately, the w**e community is supportive, and this time lent them their machine.

As Adolfo Hornos, Director-Oenologist, says: “All is good when it ends well”

🇬🇧 We're with Jesús Jiménez, w**emaker at Bodegas Numanthia a pioneer in implementing the Keyline system in the Toro D.O. This planting design is still uncommon and experimental in the region, where bush vines with wide, square planting patterns predominate.

The Keyline system is not common in the Toro D.O.:

1) Toro vineyards are situated on wide alluvial terraces, unlike the steep slopes of the Keyline system.
2) Mechanization in Toro is traditional; the curves of the Keyline system complicate tractor use.
3) Old bush vines, some even pre-phylloxera, are abundant in Toro and are impossible to restructure.

The climate challenge is prompting a rethinking of soil management in arid zones. Keyline offers these benefits:

- It captures torrential rainwater and distributes it evenly across the soil.
-By retaining moisture, the grapes ripen without water stress.
It preserves the fertile topsoil layer against torrential erosion.

🇬🇧 Our Mallorcan w**ery, BODEGA RIBAS , is the first on the island to begin the harvest season.
Starting with a plot of Prensal Blanc, a native white variety, oriented to an experimental project to produce a low-alcohol white w**e.

They won't achieve a reduction in alcohol content through dealcoholization, but rather through early harvesting, preserving its varietal identity, balance, and Mediterranean character.

Prensal Blanc has a moderate natural acidity, which is maintained by harvesting early, resulting in a w**e with tension and vibrancy.

R&D in the vineyard to evolve and adapt to the contemporary palate.

Our Albariño vines are in good shape, in the final countdown to harvest; veraison has begun on some of the vines.

Isabel Salgado is the w**emaker at Bodegas Fillaboa in DO Rías Baixas. From there, she's observing the high yield of this harvest, blessed with abundant rainfall, with numerous clusters softening their skins and beginning to accumulate sugars.

Weather permitting, we'll be harvesting the 2026 vintage in a month 💚

Fuentes del Silencio is an extreme viticultural recovery project, led by w**emaker Marta Ramas. It is located in the Jamuz Valley, at 800 m. altitude, south of León, where the tradition was almost completely disappeared.

Its singularity stems from several factors, such as its location, its artisanal approach, and the rescue of old vineyards.

-GOLD-RICH SOIL AND EXCEPTIONAL MICROBIOME, settled on sediments from ancient Roman gold mines. Organic practices, without the use of harsh chemicals, have created a microbiome of nearly a thousand identified species of microorganisms. The soil is poor and acidic, silty-loam, with stones and siliceous matter.

-CENTENARY VINEYARDS rescued from abandoned plots, many of them over 100 years old, including pre-phylloxera vines. The vines grow in mixed plantings of native varieties such as Mencía, Prieto Picudo, Alicante Bouschet, Gran Negro, and Doña Blanca.

-ARTISAN AND LIMITED PRODUCTION, under 60,000 bottles, using traditional methods such as treading the grapes in wooden vats, fermenting in concrete tanks, and aging in clay amphorae and wooden containers.

CLASSIFICATION OF D.O. BIERZO W**ES, explained by Amancio Fernández, Technical Director of Losada Vinos de Finca from Valtuille de Arriba (León).

D.O. Bierzo classification regulation was changed to include single-vineyard w**es that were already being produced but without any consumer regulation. Classification is quite similar to the French Grand Cru system, regulating from general to specific.

REGIONAL W**E (VINO REGIONAL): generic w**e made from white and red grape varieties belonging to any municipality within the D.O. Bierzo.

W**E OF VILLA (VINO DE VILLA): w**e from vineyards located in a specific village, with yields per hectare reduced to 80% of the maximum allowed. This concept is adapted from French regulations.

VILLAGE W**E (VINO DE PARAJE): w**e from a smaller, delimited area within the village vineyard, areas historically known by the villagers for producing the best grapes, with yields under 75% of the maximum.

VINEYARD CLASSIFIED: Specific and defined plot, yield below 70%, producing w**es that have been classified as Village W**e for a minimum of 5 years.

GREAT VINEYARD CLASSIFIED: Plot producing w**es that have been classified as Village W**e for a minimum of 10 years, with a yield of 60%.
