In July 2025, the Public Progress team partnered with .felixcentre to organize shelter tours of 629 Adelaide Street West, a brand new 50-bed shelter nestled at King and Bathurst. This site is a relocation of a program operated by St Felix Centre at 25 Augusta Ave, which has now been converted into permanent supportive housing.

The new co-ed shelter offers 24/7 staffing, is pet-friendly, and provides three nutritious meals a day. At St. Felix Centre, the goal is housing readiness—supporting shelter guests in their transition to permanent housing through individualized case management and access to comprehensive social service support.

This morning, modular units began to be placed at 185 Cu**er Ave for a three story supportive housing project funded by the federal Rapid Housing Initiative.

Public Progress has been coordinating community engagement on this project since its early stages — including engaging with residents of the nearby Willowdale Manor and the broader community.

This site will house 59 studio apartments with kitchens and bathrooms, and with a shared dining room, lounge, laundry room, and programming space. We are so excited to see cranes in the sky at this site!

Rezoning of 7-9 Wardlaw, a 51-unit Made-in-Rexdale supportive housing project that the Public Progress team has been supporting, has passed Toronto City Council without debate!

This four-story mass-timber building will use wood products manufactured in Ontario and is anticipated to be completed in 2026.

A special thank you to the community champions leading this effort - including Delta Family Resource Centre, Youth Without Shelter (YWS), Midaynta Community Services, Rexdale Womens Centre and Albion Neighbourhood Services
