It’s official… I’m running to be the next President of the Jamaican Canadian Association! šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡²šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦
Over the past six years as Fundraising Board Director, I’ve had the honour of raising over $1 million for the JCA — funding building upgrades, seniors programming, youth initiatives, and hiring our first full-time staff in a decade. I’m not coming in with promises. I’m coming in with a track record.
As President, I will:
āœ… Invest in youth, young adults, and the next generation of JCA leaders.
āœ… Advocate for affordable housing and seniors wellness.
āœ… Champion our community’s voice with government and partners.
āœ… Build on our legacy while moving boldly forward

Person’s Day is a reminder of the power of resilience and determination. Today, we honour the courageous women who fought for equal recognition in society, and we acknowledge that this fight continues.

From the Famous Five’s battle to have women recognized as ā€œpersonsā€ under the law to today’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equity, we must keep pushing forward. Progress happens when we not only celebrate the past but also commit to action in the present.

Gender equality is not a destination but a journey we all walk together. Let’s keep moving toward a future where everyone has a seat at the table.

Mentorship is a two-way street, and that’s what makes it so powerful. ✨

I’ve had the joy of mentoring others throughout my career and personal life—whether guiding young women on their career paths, supporting the growth of nonprofits and businesses, or sharing in spiritual growth. It’s one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.

But here’s the thing: Mentorship is a partnership. It’s not just about sharing knowledge; it’s about learning from each other. My mentees teach and inspire me just as much as I do for them! And as a mentee myself at times, I find real value in learning from someone else’s wisdom and experience.

Finding the right mentor is key. Look for someone who aligns with your values and is ready to invest in the relationship as much as you are. When both people show up to give and receive, that’s when true growth happens.

So, I want to ask: What makes your mentoring relationships thrive? What values do you look for in a mentor? Let’s continue this conversation together!
