Li-Cycle Global Li-ion battery recycler, creating a closed-loop battery supply chain. NYSE : LICY Li-Cycle is not responsible for comments posted by third parties.

Li-Cycle (OTCQX: LICYF) is a leading global lithium-ion battery resource recovery company and North America’s largest pure-play lithium-ion battery recycler, with a rapidly growing presence across Europe. Established in 2016, and with major customers and partners around the world, Li-Cycle is on a mission to recover critical battery-grade materials to create a domestic closed-loop battery supply c

hain for a clean energy future. The Company leverages its innovative, sustainable, and patent-protected Spoke & Hub Technologies™ to provide a safe, scalable, customer-centric solution to recycle all different types of lithium-ion batteries. Our Spoke & Hub Technologies™ are based on a hydrometallurgical process that provides an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to pyrometallurgical processing and traditional mining methods. At our Spokes, or pre-processing facilities, we recycle battery manufacturing scrap and end-of-life batteries to produce black mass, a powder-like substance which contains a number of valuable metals, including lithium, nickel, and cobalt. At our Hubs, or post-processing facilities, we will process black mass to produce critical battery-grade materials, including lithium carbonate, nickel sulphate, and cobalt sulphate.

Li-Cycle’s President & CEO Ajay Kochhar provides his take on the “Unleashing American Energy” Executive Order, which we believe includes a range of positive takeaways with respect to critical minerals – for which battery recycling or “urban mining” is an important domestic source of production.

The U.S. needs power, and investing in domestic battery supply chains is essential to advancing America’s national security and energy independence goals. Li-Cycle’s planned Rochester Hub project can play a key role in bolstering the U.S. domestic battery supply chain by producing critical battery materials, like lithium carbonate, which are sourced from batteries that power the lives of Americans today.

Li-Cycle is pleased to announce its Q3 2024 operational and financial results, including strong revenue growth and lower costs

“We believe the completion of the DOE loan agreement and the continued support from partners like Glencore are strong endorsements of our technology, business model, and the key role that Li-Cycle will play to support the shift to electrification. We also thank the DOE for their continued support and are grateful for the bipartisan support for lithium-ion battery recycling and how it can underpin the development of a strong domestic battery supply chain.” said Ajay Kochhar, Li-Cycle's President & CEO.

Notable takeaways from Li-Cycle’s Q3 results include:

• Closed upsized $475-million loan facility with U.S. Department of Energy to support development of our Rochester Hub project
• Completed Rochester Hub technical review under the proposed mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) scope
• Established a commercial framework with Glencore for Rochester Hub products
• Reported higher revenue, reduced costs and increased black mass production year-over-year

We are excited to announce that Li-Cycle has closed an upsized $475 million loan facility with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support development of the Rochester Hub project.

The $475 million loan amount represents an increase of $100 million over the original conditional commitment. It is also the first DOE loan facility to be finalized for a lithium-ion battery materials recycling company, which further demonstrates Li-Cycle’s important role in the U.S. battery materials supply chain as a domestic supplier of recycled critical battery materials.

Did you know that Li-Cycle’s first European Spoke, located in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, is powered through 100% renewable energy?

The electricity procured from renewable energy includes wind and solar power, hydropower, energy from biomass, and geothermal energy, all of which were fed into the electricity grid. This resulted in a carbon-neutral Scope 2 carbon footprint of electricity at our Germany Spoke.

For more fun facts about how Li-Cycle is finding creative business solutions that support the transition to a net-zero economy, take a look at our 2023 Sustainability Report.
