Networking is how strangers become connections, and connections often become friends.

So picture your life 10 years from now.
Who do you want around you?

For me, I knew I wanted to be surrounded by philanthropists.
Then I realized: many of tomorrow’s philanthropists are the entrepreneurs building TODAY.

So I started networking with entrepreneurs.
I connected with them. Became friends with them. Learned from them.
And eventually, I built two businesses of my own.

Decide who you want around you in the future. Then start meeting those people today.

That’s networking.

Stop wasting your networking conversations on “Hi, how are you?”

So many people stay in boring, forgettable small talk because they’re afraid of being too forward.

You’re in business. Talk business.

Here are 3 things you can start doing today!

1. Connect with people EVERY DAY.
DMs. Events. Calls. Coffee. Online. In person. Wherever you can. Connection should be part of your daily business strategy.

2. Ask the questions YOU want to answer.
Want someone to ask what you do? Ask them what THEY do.

They answer. “How about you?”
Boom. Now you get to tell them.

3. Move the conversation toward opportunity.
“What could we do together?”
“Who in your world should I know?”
“When can I send you the contract?”

YES. Be forward.
Be memorable.
The day you decided to become a business owner was the day you bet on yourself.

I think you should push yourself to become everything you say you want to be.
I’m not here to tell you to dream smaller so your business feels easier to manage.

I’m here to motivate you to build BIG, and then help you build the strategy to actually handle it.

Get busy. Get uncomfortable. Get the clients. Get the opportunities. Fill your calendar. Build the thing you said you wanted.

And when you hit that moment of “holy s**t, this is A LOT”…

GOOD. Now make the business make sense at this level.

Build the systems.
Fix the strategy.
Get support.
Learn how to handle the volume.
Make THIS level feel normal.

Then go bigger again.

If you’re an entrepreneur, creative or musician, I KNOW you have calls like this.
We walk through life seeing OPPORTUNITY everywhere.

We see a billboard with someone’s name on it and think, “One day that’ll be me.”

We walk into a beautiful office building and think, “I’ll have an office like this.”

We see an empty commercial space and immediately start designing the business we’d put inside it.

We go shopping and somehow leave with three new business ideas.

I went to a concert the other day and looked around thinking, “One day my logo will represent some of the biggest names on a stage like this.”

THIS is how our brains work.
We don’t just see what’s in front of us. We see what it COULD be.
We see the idea before it exists. The opportunity before it happens. The future before we get there.

We’re visionaries.
And you can’t tell me otherwise.

The next?

Outfit change. Elevator doors open. And I’m off to an event, meeting people, talking business and making connections.

I’ve spoken on stage with CIBC twice now, and both times have been pretty incredible moments in my career.

The first stage I EVER spoke on was a CIBC stage. Not my first big stage.
My first stage. Period.

It was my first keynote, my first time standing in front of a room and delivering a speech, and the beginning of something I would end up doing A LOT more of.

Then 3 years later, I spoke on that same stage again.

This time, I was hosting the WomanACT Awards Gala, taking the room through the day, celebrating incredible people and representing the brands and sponsors behind it.

Same stage. Three years apart.
