🗨️"If we had been using an isotopically labelled standard, it would have 100% been avoided."

In this clip from our expert panel discussion, Jason Brown, Principal Consultant at Brown Pharma Consulting Ltd, shares a real-world example where the use of an isotopically labelled standard could have prevented a false negative result.

💡His experience highlights the importance of robust analytical approaches and why stable isotope-labelled standards can be critical for building confidence in nitrosamine testing.

Have you seen divergence between regulatory agencies on how they interpret acceptable impurity limits? 💬

In this clip from our expert panel discussion, Jörg Schlingemann, nitrosamine expert and consultant, discusses a recent example highlighting how regulatory expectations can vary between regions.

Drawing on a discussion with the Thai FDA, he explores how different interpretations of maximum daily dose can influence acceptable intake calculations for nitrosamines, creating challenges for companies preparing global submissions.

Can we predict the safety of extractables and leachables before testing every compound?

📜 A new collaborative study involving scientists from the FDA has analysed the chemical space of more than 1,200 pharmaceutical extractables and leachables, providing one of the most comprehensive overviews of these compounds to date. ( https://ow.ly/CIPf50ZAY0J )

💡The significance isn't simply the size of the dataset. By grouping structurally similar compounds and examining existing toxicity data, the work provides a stronger scientific foundation for read-across, helping toxicologists assess the safety of previously uncharacterised leachables more efficiently and consistently.

As extractables and leachables guidance continues to evolve, this type of evidence-based approach has the potential to make risk assessments more efficient while maintaining confidence in patient safety.

At LGC Standards, we support extractables and leachables workflows with a comprehensive portfolio of analytical reference standards for method development, identification and quantification. Explore the range: https://ow.ly/5a8w50ZAY0K
