Me and my inner Axl Rose, and Allison for the win.
No offence to gingers everywhere but I think Axl Rose was my first ginger crush (at that time we didnât know about his abusive behaviour and his name is forever closely associated with a body odour spray for men so that makes me feel a teeny bit better.)
Today is about my stellar karaoke skills and culture, good and bad.
What you are not seeing here is my awesome below hip leg sway. I perfected the art of stiffening my legs and kicking one ankle into the other, kind of like a pendulum swing. Just the way Axl did it.
KEY TAKEAWAY - Culture is made up of those seemingly innocuous moments of human connection and shared values.
Allison and I were peers. Oh wait- no we werenât! HAHAHAâŚ.oops my bad. Seriously, I just realized that now as I am writing.
Allison was technically âone rungâ above me. How is it that I forgot that?
Because she never made me feel that I had to remember that.
Here we are- aligned in a love of music, fun, silliness, and joyful play!
This was an office gathering where we literally were releasing the pressure valve of some really intense work months!
It allowed us to connect with each other outside of the deadlines.
We were aligned in wanting to be real, to relax, to play and because she never made me feel âless thanâ as a subordinate I felt safe to play.
So if Culture is defined as those beliefs, behaviours and values of its leaders, how are you leading? And if Culture Entropy is defined as the measurement of the unproductive work, fear, dysfunction, and spin that lives in the team... do you know what is causing that?
Do you know how big your Culture gap is?
What if you could fix it, and drive greater results AND fun at work?
Your culture can be measured and we all know what gets measured gets done.
