In a time when it feels like people are spinning and polarizing into their own individual orbits, I find this quote offers a perspective that's really useful. We have a lot of complex problems to solve, and the only way to do it is through collaboration, respect, curiosity and a willingness to work together.

For anyone else out there passionate about the importance of restoring trust and respect within groups, I highly recommend the body of work of Peter Block. His third and revised and expanded version of his seminal "Community: The Structure of Belonging" was recently released and it's a great and inspiring read.

We’ve all been in meetings where you feel the tension before anyone speaks. Tightness, clipped responses, people talking past each other.

Most leaders push through it, which is like ignoring the elephant in the room.

Another powerful and simple choice to make is to name what is happening. It can be as simple as saying something like: "I think we’re all running a little hot. Let’s take a breath."

This one sentence:
• Normalizes what people are feeling
• Shows you’re noticing the human side, not just the agenda
• Creates a collective exhale so conversation can actually flow

Your team is in the spin cycle too. Name it first. Give them permission to acknowledge reality.

That's how you do better work together.

So excited! I am hitting the stage at the Randolph Theatre with my Riverdale Players family Feb 4-6! Feeling super blessed as two of my kids are in the cast - my talented daughter and son .imrie are chewing their scenes! Here’s a clip of a dance rehearsal with the 3 of us in action - but if you want to know what song it is you will have to come out to the show!

It’s a musical fundraiser for and amazing children’s charity, , and the script is the hilarious brainchild of our talented director, ! Tickets are going fast, so nab yours at the link in the first comment. Can’t make it out? The link for our GoFundMe campaign is in the second comment.

Thanks and I hope to see you there! Giddy-up!

When I was 20 years old, I thought I could figure out anything if I just used my brain. Got another degree. Worked harder. Studied more.

Now, quite a few decades later, I realize that intelligence isn't just from the neck up. It's about embracing your heart and gut wisdom too. There's a flow here in this game of life that often is beyond what one can understand.

Can anyone else relate?

I'm about to disappear into a cocoon of family, friends and finishing a crochet project for the holiday season - I can't wait!

I wish you and yours all the very best for the holiday and the new year ahead!

Adapting to change requires unlearning every bit as much as innovation. In fact, unlearning can help you clear your mental bandwidth from old ideas so that innovation and reinvention thinking becomes more possible.

What can you rethink or release to get you started?
