We organized a Cover Design Competition at Inventure Academy in December 2021 to have young creative minds imagine a vibrant future for their city and illustrate this to be the cover page of our upcoming graphic novel, Bengaluru 2070.

Congratulations to the winners, Rhea Misquith and Asees Kaur, of grade 10, on winning the design competition, and to the honourable mentions and all other participants! Swipe to see the winning design, it's description, and the jury's note.

It was boundlessly fascinating to witness such exciting and innovative imaginations for the city. The entries are testimony to the importance of getting this book in the hands of more young people! It reinstates our belief that civic action and engagement of youth can bring about real change in our cities and surroundings.

It has been an endearing journey so far and we look forward to completing and publishing the book by end of this year!

! NEW UPCOMING GRAPHIC NOVEL - BENGALURU 2070 !

I have been dropping hints about my upcoming book, as you have noticed ;) Here I am revealing more about it.

Bengaluru 2070 is an educational graphic novel with a hint of sci-fi that provides not just a fun thrilling story, but also a resource that encourages our teens and future leaders to observe their surroundings more carefully and become responsible stewards of their own future. The goal of the book is to encourage and guide the active involvement of young people in daily welfare activities at the local level of the city.

Funny, fast paced, and relevant, the graphic novel is set in Bengaluru's past (1970-1990), present (2020-2022), and future (2070). Illustrated with beautiful artwork, and memorable characters, it is expected to be published in December 2022.

Watch this space for more information.

Illustration by the very talented Kaushiki Tripathi.

In 2021, I officially registered ikterra in Canada, pushed my planning practice and signed new contracts, transitioned to a full time job based in Ohio, continued to work on my book based on Bangalore, and continued to write articles occasionally.

Personally, I learned what it means to make a home and career goals work together in harmony, I persevered when things were difficult, and continued to heal from the triggers of the previous years.

I wish that hard work, prayers, and all the inner and outer work we have put into ourselves pay off. My friends and fellow planners, you have been such an integral part of my journey. Sending you light and wish you a joyously abundant New Year ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’ซ

While I'm enjoying my time in Bangalore, I deeply miss my family and life back in Toronto. I had to travel due to family situations in India but now that I want to return, pandemic related travel restrictions have made it super difficult. I would have reached Toronto today in a normal world but...

As I try to find my way back home, I want to encourage everyone to take a moment and remember the pandemic is not over yet. India is on a high risk list of almost every country worldwide with several countries banning all flights from India even for just a few hours of transit.

Unfortunately, there's no overnight solution for this but if we want to get back to a world where we can move freely, we need to work together. Every individual action counts! Despite the lockdown being lifted, please continue to wear a mask, stay home, get vaccinated, and avoid unnecessary travel. Let's be responsible citizens and help each other ๐Ÿ™

Just submitted my walk for Jane's Walk Toronto Festival 2021 ๐Ÿ˜€

I'll be walking down Roncesvalles Avenue, which is where I live, and explore the vast diversity of food options available here. We'll listen from the owners of four restaurants directly as they share their experience of being a part of the community and surviving the pandemic.

Some restaurants have been around for 40 years while some are new and have opened just months ago. For decades, the Polish culture has laid the foundation of this neighborhood, but in the 21st century, it has seen the emergence of dozens of new cuisines. Did you know that there are now 16 different kinds of cuisines available on this 2km long street?

Check out the Jane's walk festival page - https://www.janeswalkfestivalto.com/ - and join me, starting tomorrow, on this virtual walking tour down Roncy.

Back when it felt like I'd walked right into Middle-Earth.

Suomenlinna in Finland is an inhabited maritime fortress built on eight islands with a rich history. Its construction began in the mid-18th century, when Finland was still part of Sweden.ย After the Swedes, the fortress was surrendered to the Russians.ย It was transferred to the Finnish government only in 1918 during the Finnish Civil War.

Suomenlinna is now a part of UNESCOโ€™s World Heritage List and home to approximately 800 residents and a workplace for about 400 people.
