This time last year my best girlfriends were planning a trip to Columbia for the May long weekend, and I was 6 months into starting a new business. Those of you who have been in this position know what this means: no spare time and no spare cash.

I was devastated to be missing out on this experience with them. It was hard to sit by and watch them get excited about the places they were going, the people they were going to meet and the fact that they had conventional jobs that afforded them the luxurious "Vacation Pay".
•
Fast forwarded 12 months, and I just booked my first vacation since I started my company! Don't get me wrong I've run away for long weekends here and there, but to me this is a real achievement. I have the time and money to go on a week long sun filled vacation, and I didn't even have to max out my credit card to do it.

And though I've worked hard to get to this point, I couldn't have gotten here without those girls that went to Columbia last year. They bailed me out when I had absolutely no money in the bank, encouraged me when I was convinced this business was a bad idea, and made me realize that I would do whatever it takes to make this business work and not miss out on future experiences with them.
