BEER MAVENS

BEER MAVENS "Elevated Beer Adventures" Beer Mavens is a Toronto-based company dedicated to elevating beer experiences through inspired adventures.

The emergence of the craft beer scene in North America over the last 30 years has sparked a beer boom in Canada. The current craft beer explosion in North America has created a new type of beer consumer - an individual who is equally curious and discerning. Beer Mavens aims to provide educational beer experiences in various formats, from pub crawls to tasting lectures to dining events featuring be

er and food pairings, as well as private cellar collection programming. Beer Mavens is made up of Toronto beer aficionados, Andrea Caswell and Cheri Dueck. Caswell and Dueck met while working together as part of the management team at Beerbistro, one of Toronto’s leading beer-focused establishments. It was there that both women became enamored with the international craft beer industry. Both Caswell and Dueck have travelled extensively to breweries and beer festivals around the globe, which has allowed them the unique opportunity to try some of the world’s greatest beers and foster connections with some of the leaders in the craft beer movement. Incidentally, both women have been sworn in to the Order of the Pink Elephant at Brouwerij Huyghe. Cheri Dueck is a world beer adventurer and connoisseur. She has travelled to beer festivals around the world, including the Belgian Beer Festival in Brussels, the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO and multiple beer trips throughout Michigan, New York, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and more. During her years at Beerbistro, Cheri was involved in organizing various beer and food events, such as the Nørrebro Bryghus/Mikkeller, BrewDog and Dieu Du Ciel Dinners, the Pilsner Urquell Draught Launch, Innis & Gunn Rum Cask Launch, American Brewers Assoc. Craft Beer Dinner and Toronto’s Golden Tap Awards. Cheri offers a wealth of information regarding Toronto’s local craft beer scene and up and coming venues, and is a leading entrepreneur in hospitality consultation. As Chief Hospitality Innovator for her company, Blaze Dynamic, Cheri offers tailor-made branding strategies and operational development for new and growing businesses. Andrea Caswell is in the final stages of becoming certified as a Pru D’homme Beer Sommelier (http://www.thirstforknowledge.ca) She has had the privilege of visiting diverse breweries around the world, including Affligem, Brooklyn Brewery, Brouwerij Huyghe, Cantillon, De Koninck, Dogfish Head, Victory, Westvleteren, and more. She has participated in beer festivals over the globe, including the Belgian Beer Festival in Brussels. She has helped to facilitate several beer and food events, such as the Nørrebro Bryghus/Mikkeller, BrewDog, Dieu Du Ciel & Dogfish Head Dinners, and the Toronto Golden Tap Awards at Beerbistro. In Toronto, Caswell assists in providing specialized beer education and training for Beerbistro’s staff. Caswell has also worked closely with Beerbistro’s executive chefs in menu development and beer pairings. We look forward to meeting you and helping create a memorable beer experience at your next event!

A great article about a passion for craft beer being realized, and an interesting perspective on ingredients and food security issues and how breweries may need to become more adaptive.

"Unlike wheat, sorghum can survive in areas plagued by high temperatures and little rainfall. As the effects of climate change grow more severe worldwide, sorghum will likely become a crucial grain for not just beer, but food, too."

Inland Microbrewery produces several varieties of beer, all without the use of imported malted barley, upon which Ghana’s two major commercial breweries rely.

Also -someone please go and enjoy a glass of Sunlight Park, because Andrea of Beer Mavens is still in Berlin and has active fantasies about that beer.
