When I built the Lumina Learning Canada team, I knew I had a competitive advantage.
Before taking over the business, I had already been a Lumina Practitioner for years through my private consulting practice.
I had worked with many of these individuals in different capacities, and over time, you really start to understand people.
I already had a pretty good sense of:
• their strengths
• communication styles
• how they lead
• collaborate
• and naturally operate under pressure
I have been using this tool for years, and I can often get a pretty good idea of what someone’s Lumina Spark portrait might look like before ever seeing it on paper. I love when a Lumina Spark Portrait confirms exactly what I’m picking up on, along with the occasional surprise, too.
What I love most about Lumina, though, is the nuance behind it.
It recognizes that people do not operate the same way all the time.
Who we are when we feel confident and grounded can look very different from how we respond under stress, pressure, uncertainty, or change.
That level of awareness is incredibly powerful for teams.
The strongest teams are not built from people who all think alike. They are built from diverse personalities, strengths, perspectives, and operating styles that complement each other.
When understanding replaces assumption, communication becomes healthier, collaboration becomes stronger, and people feel far more connected to the work they do together.
I love my team, and I’m proud of the work we do every day, helping other organizations uncover the power of understanding people more deeply.
