💻 5+ years ago, I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into! 😂

Coming from healthcare, I wasn't tech-savvy, didn't know digital marketing, and had zero experience building a business online.

But here's what I've learned along the way. 👇

✅ Start before you feel ready. You can learn as you go.
✅ Social media is more than scrolling. It can become a powerful tool for connecting and building a business.
✅ Consistency beats perfection. Not every post will get attention, but every experience teaches you something.
✅ Understand before you invest. Ask questions, know the costs, and do your research.

🚫I didn't start because I had extra time, money, or experience.
✅I started because I wanted a Plan B beyond my healthcare paycheque.

And having step-by-step training, mentorship, and a supportive community helped me learn along the way.

I'm still working, still learning, and still building. ❤️

🌊 At this stage of my life, I don't dream of being rich just to buy expensive things. I dream of being rich in TIME. ❤️

📍Time to travel without counting vacation days. ✈️
📍Time to enjoy a quiet morning without rushing to work. ☕
📍Time to sit by the ocean on a random Wednesday, watching the waves without worrying about the next paycheque.

After years of working hard, especially starting over as an immigrant in Canada, I've realized that the real luxury isn't having more things. It's having more choices.

And that's one reason I'm building something on the side while still working in healthcare. Not to live extravagantly, but to hopefully enjoy more freedom in the years ahead.

Because at 50+, I'm not getting any younger! 😂❤️

3 early challenges I faced when I started my online business:

1️⃣ I didn’t know what I was doing.

Content, marketing, follow-up, automation… it all felt like a different language at first. 😂 I had to learn one step at a time through training and practice.

2️⃣ I was afraid of what people would think.

Posting online felt uncomfortable. I worried coworkers, friends, or family might judge me. But eventually I realized I was building something for my future, not for everyone’s approval. ❤️

3️⃣ I expected myself to get results too fast.

I thought effort should equal instant results. What I learned is that skills take time. You improve by showing up, making mistakes, adjusting, and staying consistent.
I didn’t start confident.
I became more confident because I kept going. ✨

One thing I’ve learned is that people may not understand your vision in the beginning.

And that’s okay.

📍They didn’t see the reason you started.
📍They don’t feel the same pressure you feel about your future.
📍They don’t know what you’re trying to create for yourself and your family.
📍Sometimes people only understand after they see the results.

Until then, keep learning. Keep improving. Keep showing up. ❤️

3 Misconceptions about online business that almost stopped me before I even started. 👀💻

Before I started, I had a lot of assumptions too. 😅

1️⃣ “You have to be techy.”

I definitely was not. 😂 I learned through training, repetition, and simply doing one thing at a time. You do not need to know everything before you begin.

2️⃣ “You have to quit your job and take a huge risk.”

Not true for me. I built this alongside my regular job. I wasn’t looking to escape healthcare—I wanted another option I could grow gradually. ❤️

3️⃣ “You have to chase everyone you know.”

This was a big one for me. I did not want to pressure friends or family. What I learned instead was how to use content, storytelling, marketing, and a system to connect with people who are already curious about what I offer. 💻✨

Online business is not magic, and it is definitely not instant money.

📌It still takes learning.
📌Consistency.
📌Patience.
📌And getting better at the skills over time.

But sometimes the thing we’re afraid of is based on what we think online business is—not what it actually looks like when you understand the system.

One of the biggest lies about online business? That you have to quit your job to make it work. 😳💻

⛔️Nope!

📌I didn’t start because I hated my job.
📌I didn’t start because I wanted to walk away from healthcare.
📌And I definitely didn’t wake up one morning and say, “Okay, goodbye paycheque!” 😂

📍I started because I wanted another option.

📍Something I could build beside my regular job.
📍Something I could learn gradually.
📍Something that didn’t require me to gamble everything I already worked hard for.

That’s the part people sometimes misunderstand.

Building an online business doesn’t have to mean throwing away your Plan A.

Sometimes it simply means creating a Plan B while Plan A is still paying the bills. ❤️

For me, that looked like learning the system, doing the training, creating content, understanding marketing, and improving one skill at a time.

🚫No dramatic resignation letter. 😂
🚫No overnight transformation.
✅Just consistency, learning, and building quietly in the background.

Because at this stage of my life, I’m not looking for more chaos.

I’m looking for more choices.
✅More financial breathing room.
✅More flexibility.
✅More security for the future.
✅And eventually, the ability to slow down because I want to—not because life forces me to.

That’s what building something on the side means to me. ✨

One thing I want to clear up, because I know this is where a lot of people immediately put up a wall:

“Is this MLM?” 👀

And I understand why people ask.

A lot of us hear “online business,” “products,” or “commissions” and immediately picture chasing family and friends, keeping inventory at home, attending endless parties, or being pressured to recruit everyone we know.

That is not how I personally build my business.

📍There is a real product behind it, yes.
📍There is also a compensation structure.

But what I am really sharing with people is the business system around it—the training, marketing process, automation, mentorship, and a way to learn how to attract interested people online instead of constantly chasing people.

That is why I often describe it as more of a franchise-style online system than the old-school version people imagine when they hear MLM.

🚫You are not inventing a product from scratch.
🚫You are not building a website from zero.
🚫You are not figuring out every step alone.

The tools, training, system, and support are already there.

Your part is learning how to market, communicate, build trust, and guide the people who are genuinely interested.

And for someone like me—working a regular job, already tired after a full day, and thinking seriously about retirement—I did not want another side hustle that required even more hours from me.

I wanted something I could learn and build around the life I already had.

That is the part I wish more people would look at before deciding based only on a label.

📌You do not have to like every business model.
📌You do not have to join anything you do not understand.

But I do believe in going deeper, asking questions, looking at how the system actually works, what the products are, how people are compensated, and then deciding for yourself. ❤️

Because sometimes we reject an option based on what we think it is… before we ever understand what it actually involves.

Most people think that once you hit 50, the dreaming should slow down.

I don’t believe that at all. ❤️

If anything, I think this is the age when you start asking better questions:

❓What do I really want now?
❓What do I still want to build?
❓How do I want the next 10, 20, or 30 years to feel?

One story I always find inspiring is Colonel Harland Sanders. KFC’s own history says he was already 65 when he really devoted himself to franchising his chicken business across North America.

He had already lived through different jobs, setbacks, and plenty of trial and error before that chapter took off.

That really makes me think.🤔

At 50+, we are not starting with nothing.
We are starting with life experience.

📌Resilience.
📌Lessons.
📌Mistakes we’ve survived.
📌People skills.
📌Work ethic.
And a much clearer idea of what we do and don’t want anymore. ✨

For me, this season of life isn’t about trying to prove I’m still young.

It’s about realizing I’m still allowed to dream bigger, learn something new, build another income stream, travel more, protect my health, and create more choices for my future.

Maybe starting later doesn’t mean you’re late. ⏰

Maybe it means you’re finally starting with wisdom. ❤️

And if someone could build one of the world’s most recognizable business brands after retirement age, then maybe we should stop acting like 50 is an ending. It can be a beginning too.

🚨 I just realized something funny… most of us have been doing SALES for years and didn’t even know it and not being PAID😂

Think about it…

📍We tell our friends where to eat. 🍽️
📍Which hotel is worth booking. ✈️
📍What skincare we love. ✨
📍Which gadget is actually useful. 😂
📍What movie to watch. 🎬
📍And what is definitely NOT worth the money. 🤣

Then someone asks:

“Would you recommend it?”
And suddenly we become the best salesperson ever. 😂👏🏻

We explain everything.
Why we like it.
Why it’s worth it.
Why they should try it.
And when they buy it?

The restaurant gets paid.
The hotel gets paid.
Amazon gets paid.
The company gets paid.
And we get…

“Thank you so much for recommending this!” 😂

Ummm… you’re welcome?! 🤣

The funny part is, we already know how to recommend things naturally.

That’s one reason I enjoy learning online marketing. 🫶

It’s not about bothering people or messaging everyone you know. 🙅‍♀️

It’s about learning how to share what you believe in, create helpful content, build trust, and connect with people who are already looking for what you offer.

Basically… doing what we already do naturally, but with a little more intention. 💻✨
