Culturally Informed Crisis Management
This workshop focuses on strengthening participants’ capacity to respond effectively and compassionately to racialized community members who are experiencing suicidal ideations.
Through a culturally informed lens, we explore how systemic inequities, migration stressors, intergenerational trauma, and cultural stigma shape the way individuals express distress and seek help.
Participants will learn:
Culturally grounded approaches to crisis assessment and intervention.
How colonial histories and racial trauma impact mental health and help-seeking…
Strategies for building safety while honoring cultural identity, values, and communication styles
How to identify culturally specific warning signs and respond with sensitivity…
De-escalation skills tailored for diverse communities
Ways to create trust with callers or clients who may fear discrimination or misunderstanding
Collaborative safety planning that includes family, community, and cultural supports..
The workshop encourages reflection, empathy, and skill-building, equipping participants with practical tools to support racialized individuals in moments of intense vulnerability—while affirming dignity, identity, and cultural resilience.
