Mold Environmental Toronto is a subsidiary company of Toronto Environmental & Engineering Associates, a company that specializes in Indoor Air Quality testing. Our parent company specializes in the broader field of Indoor Air Quality, of which mold testing has become such a large part that Mold Environmental Toronto was established to concentrate on that special area of Indoor Air Quality testing.
Mold is a member of the fungus kingdom, which also comprises mushrooms, yeast, toad stools and other fungi. Although many fungi are edible, such as mushrooms, morals and puffballs, most molds and many other fungi can be injurious to the health of building occupants when their spores are dispersed into the room air or where they are ingested and in some instances where highly sensitive individuals simply come into contact with mold. Many people worry when they see black mold in their homes and immediately believe that their homes or businesses are contaminated with the notorious TOXIC BLACK MOLD (stachybotrys chartarum). This is an erroneous conclusion because many of these black molds, along with molds of other colors can produce toxins. Thus, what should be uppermost in the minds of all concerned is that all molds are potentially dangerous to human health, especially when mold concentrations in a building are high or there are signs of visible mold on surfaces in the building, which could be a source of mold being launched into the room. Mold Environmental Toronto does not conduct mold remediation, because we feel it is a conflict of interest for a company to both test for mold and remediate mold. When our testing finds mold contamination within a home or business, where contamination levels require mold remediation, Mold Environmental Toronto will recommend competent remediation vendors who can perform this work. In the event that Mold Environmental Toronto’s sampling work cannot identify a mold problem, but the client continues to display bronchial distress, rhinitis, itchy eyes, burning eyes or other symptoms typical of Indoor Air Quality contamination, Mold Environmental Toronto can call on the services of our parent company Toronto Environmental & Engineering Associates to assist in finding the problem. We also have the ability to call on the resources of our sister company in the US, Boston Environmental & Engineering Associates, Inc. for a collegial consultation for those rare and unique Indoor Air Quality problems that occasionally require a team solution.
