On March 2, 2026, PDAC, the World Economic Forum and The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development co-hosted the eleventh annual International Mines Ministers Summit (IMMS). The Summit brought together 26 government representatives responsible for mining from around the world alongside leaders of industry, financial institutions, and civil society.
This year’s Summit focused on the theme Aligning Priorities: Producer-Consumer Strategies for the Future of Minerals. Discussions focused on the growing urgency of aligning producer and consumer country strategies in the face of rapidly increasing demand for critical minerals driven by the global energy transition and digitalization. While longstanding differences in priorities persist, participants broadly agreed that these are increasingly interdependent and can be addressed through enhanced cooperation, stronger institutions, and innovative policy and financing approaches.
