This image shows Henderson's Auction Rooms, recently discovered in the earliest photographic survey of Toronto. It was taken by Octavius Thompson, probably between 1866 and 1867.

Our history as a company dates back to 1850 – when Canada was still 17 years away from Confederation and Toronto’s population was less than 20,000. Andrew Henderson of Paisley, Scotland opened auction rooms on Toronto’s lower Yonge Street. In 1863, the company, which then included Henderson’s son Charles, moved to 128 King Street East where the sign would hang over the entrance for the next 75 years, establishing Henderson’s as the auction house of Toronto.

Looking to be a part of this history? Consign with us today, and find out why we've been Canada's auction house since 1850.
