We’re thrilled to celebrate an IES Illumination Award of Merit for where Japanese heritage meets Canadian craftsmanship. Spanning two levels and over 18,000 square feet, the design transforms the restaurant into an immersive dining experience. From the cascading 28-foot bronze chainmail chandelier to warmly lit Kawara roof tile pillars, each element was carefully illuminated to highlight traditional materials and evoke a sense of movement, texture, and cultural connection.

The collaboration of local and international artisans played a key role, from a porcelain ginkgo tree installation glowing with delicate shadows to subtle terrace lighting that creates an intimate garden sanctuary. With energy-efficient LED fixtures and a thoughtful high-contrast scheme, the lighting design not only guides guests through the space but also enhances NOBU Toronto’s surreal and sophisticated ambiance.

Congrats to all project teams involved in bringing this space to life!

This week, Toronto received its first Michelin Guide, with 13 restaurants that made the list. One of those was Quetzal, a space that we were able to help bring to life through lighting design. Congrats to the entire team at Quetzal for this incredible achievement!

Quetzal (‘ket-sal’) is a high-style Mexican culinary experience located in Toronto. Lighting was integrated with a ribbed ceiling structure, a bottle display, and recessed pockets. Philips Hue Lighting system was specified to allow the owners to change colour throughout the evening in addition to dimming from a simple free phone App.
