We love the summer tradition of road tripping around your province and trying that are new to you — kids in tow. Here in I’m digging the Guera Mexican cerveza, Trois and they’re knocking out a classic West Coast expertly too. The prickly pear sour is my husband’s favourite and it’s quite lovely too.

Running a brewery can be a great and very fulfilling experience. However, we suffered a bit of a setback last week; our glycol chiller died! Our chiller is what we need to chill our beer down to a low enough temperature to be able to package it into cans and kegs. We also need it to make lagers, as they ferment at cooler temperatures. Without it, our beer production just about grinds to a halt. We have just been able to get it fixed, but it was an expense we couldn't afford at this point. Right now, we'd really appreciate it if you could do us a bit of solid. If you need beer, consider coming by or going online and buying it from us. We'd truly appreciate it, and it would go a long way to helping us continue to brew your favourite beers. We have a couple of new releases including Replicant Haze and Settebello Italian Pilsner. Thank you in advance!

We’ve closed our business but we are keeping our charity efforts going! Thank you to the 18 brewery teams who are coming to lawnbowl to raise money for tomorrow at the Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club. Here are some highlights from our first ever Beer Sisters Bowl-o in Sept 2019!

Cheers to the sweaty breweries popping up at this summer. We checked out in East York, a market showcasing Black and Indigenous vendors and spotted where we bought the “Noah’s Ark” (two of every beer they have for sale). I loved loved the IPA.

Indie bottleshops are one of the few blessings of the pandemic on the Ontario beer scene. It’s so awesome to finally see passionate experts bring fine and wine to beer drinkers and be able to guide their customers. helmed by and does just that for the High Park & Roncy’s crowd. I picked up a few Italian and Japanese beers that you can’t get in the along with a pet nat. Don’t live in Toronto? You can order online.

Hey friends, we have officially closed Beer Sisters Inc.

Co-founding a business with your sister is a dream—and we were stupid lucky to have worked side-by-side for over five years building Beer Sisters into a national beer consultancy. Like many small businesses, the pandemic was challenging for us, and we have each decided that we’d like to do something different.

Tara Luxmore Elliot is currently looking for new opportunities in food and beverage. If you know of any, she would be thrilled to hear from you at tara@ beersisters.com.

Crystal is co-writing a graphic novel with her husband Conor McCreery. It’s about her middle-school years—and will be coming out in 2025. She is also doing a bit of beer consulting and writing, please stay in touch crystal@ beersisters.com.

Some of our favourite moments include: headlining a craft beer festival in Grapevine Texas, covering and speaking at festivals in Halifax, Vancouver and Denver, cramming for our Cicerone exams, and throwing Wild Things Fest.

But most of all we will remember our amazing colleagues and clients, whom we were lucky to work with. We were honoured to be invited to your brew days, interview you about a charitable project at your brewery, lead a tasting, and to make meaningful connections beyond beer and business.

We’ve raised over $60,000 for organizations serving Aboriginal women and children in Toronto through our Annual Charity Hopspiel and Lawn Bowl-o. We will continue to throw these annually to support Native women and their children in Toronto.

Watch out for a save the date Beer Sisters Bowl-O this September.

All the best, C&T

Sending our love and respect to all of the women in beer and beverage today. As usual this year women did a lot of heavy lifting for the cause of gender equality in the industry — and we raise our glasses of Queen of Craft to them all. Get your tix for this event series - link in our bio. And support female leaders abs brewers by buying their product, like where we ordered some stouts the other day… or don’t drink at all — as alcohol marketing is often targeted to women and that sucks. Hopped sparkling water is a tasty alternative and Wellingtons endless iterations keep us 😃.

In the before times we’d be putting the final touches on our annual Beer Sisters Hopspiel and planning our fall Bowl-O, which raise money for and respectively, two Native womens organizations which replay vital roles in housing and supporting Aboriginal women and their children in Toronto. This year, we were delighted to find that longtime generous donor donated $2000 to Anduhyaun because they are so passionate about their work. Here’s part of what FCC wrote to us: “This donation was recommended by my FCC colleagues who care about your mission and who have also enjoyed the fun fundraisers organized by the Beer Sisters in the past. Crystal and Tara, I want you to know that your impact continues and influences our giving even as we must do so from a distance. Thank you for being so passionate about your community.”
Chi Miigwetch to Susan Cameron and her team at FCC for this gift.

Our guide to Ontario is in the fall issue of l
LCBO Food & Drink mag in stores noooowwww. We organized this guide by WHERE cider is made, because we feel that place tells a story that comes through in the final beverage, whether it’s an orchard-based cidery, a production house or a brewery. We also tried to highlight new and up and coming cideries along with some classics. 🍎🍏🍎. Learn about them all and find a new fave in this month’s issue.
