When the right support is in place, communities don't just meet their goals — they surpass them.

Terry Marklevitz, a Retired Architect and Campaign Co-Chair at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, shared this:

“I was a member of the previous capital campaign that managed to raise only about 80% of our goal. I sat during many of those meetings as everyone spend a great deal of time considering the options for running the campaign. While I was also on the present campaign committee, I was very uncertain that we would be able to meet the goal. However your process established a goal that was reasonable, a goal we have now surpassed. You kept us focused on well-defined tasks. As a result, we achieved 130% of our goal and we now have the means to finish the capital repairs to the church but perhaps more importantly as a parish we have be given confidence, necessary to sustain our parish life.”

This is what it looks like when mission comes to life.

Are you ready to bring yours to life too?

🌿 Earth Day is tomorrow, April 22nd. And it isn't just a reminder. It's a call. May we be faithful stewards of all that has been entrusted to us.

Real stewardship today looks like:
🔆 Turn off lights — every bit of energy saved counts
☀️ Support clean, renewable electricity in your community
🚶 Choose car-free trips when you can
💧 Reduce waste and water use at home
🤝 Advocate — write, vote, speak up for bold climate action

As the David Suzuki Foundation reminds us, we must rapidly shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Wind and solar are already the cheapest electricity in history. Clean energy means better health, more jobs, and a livable future.

Generosity isn't a campaign strategy. It's a culture.

Some communities carry it quietly — in the way they talk about their mission, in donors that are educated on the vision and choose to give because they see its value, in the leaders who speak personally about why it matters. By the time a campaign begins, the foundation is already there.

It's a perspective we share with Paul Nazareth, MFA-P — known across Canada as "The Generosity Guy" — whose life's work is rooted in advancing generosity, no fundraising required. Paul has long championed the idea that generosity and philanthropy are bigger than any single campaign or ask. At M&M International, we couldn't agree more.

That's what we love helping organizations build. Not just a successful campaign, but a community that's truly ready for one.

After working with 400+ nonprofits and faith-based organizations, we've noticed one consistent difference between campaigns that thrive and ones that stall: a plan.
A strong fundraising strategy doesn't just raise more money — it protects what matters most.
Here's what we see when organizations take the time to plan:
→ Donors give with greater confidence when they can see a clear vision and a credible path forward.
→ Volunteers and staff stay energized because everyone knows their role in the story.
→ Boards lead from a place of clarity, not anxiety.
→ And the communities you exist to serve? They don't have to wait.
Strategy is stewardship. It says: we take this mission seriously enough to plan for it.
If your organization is doing extraordinary work and you're ready to build the foundation it deserves — we'd love to be part of that conversation.
What does your fundraising strategy look like this year?

Midnight grant deadlines. 8am volunteer orientations. Budget spreadsheets and board meetings and someone at the door who needs help right now.
She doesn't do it for recognition. She does it because the mission matters. Because the people at the door matter.
This International Women's Day, we want to say something plainly:
The Canadian nonprofit and faith sector runs, in large part, because of women.
They lead with fierce determination and extraordinary vision — navigating budgets, building communities, holding space for the vulnerable, and raising the next generation of leaders all at once. We've worked alongside executive directors of immigrant settlement organizations, ministers building food banks from their church basements, and development directors who stretch every dollar further than should be humanly possible.
Accelerating action looks like the women who have been doing that work for decades. It's time we said it loudly.
To the women leading Canadian faith communities and nonprofits today:
You are not just holding organizations together. You are holding communities together.
We see you. We celebrate you. And we are proud to call you partners in mission. 💛
Who is a woman in the Canadian sector who has shaped how you lead, give, or serve? Tag her below — let's fill this thread with names that deserve to be celebrated. 👇

This Black History Month, we're looking forward just as much as we're looking back—at the organizations writing new chapters for Black communities across Canada.
The Foundation For Black Communities (FFBC) is one of them. As Canada's first philanthropic foundation dedicated entirely to investing in Black communities, FFBC connects grassroots organizations with the systemic support they deserve through partnership, not charity.
They’re building durable infrastructure, relationships, and sustained resources that allow Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations to do their work without constantly scrambling for survival.
Black history isn't just the past. It's being written right now, by the communities FFBC helps sustain.

🍂 Fall is here and for nonprofits, that means it’s time to get ready for the most important season of the year: year-end giving.

Too often, nonprofits scramble in December with last-minute appeals. But with a little planning, fall can be the season that sets you up for stronger relationships, deeper engagement, and more impactful fundraising.

In our latest blog, we share five practical steps nonprofits can take now to prepare for a fruitful year-end giving season. We share strategies like reflecting on your impact, planning communications and stewarding donors — strategies that can help your nonprofit enter December with confidence.

❌ It's a myth that donors only give to urgent causes.
Urgency is powerful— but it’s not everything.

While emergencies grab attention, many donors care just as deeply about ongoing, long-term work. They want to support missions that align with their values—even when the headlines are quiet.

✅ The takeaway? Instead of waiting for a crisis to tell your story, show how consistent support leads to consistent impact. Be the drumbeat, not the fire alarm.

With only a few months left in the year, now’s a good time to pause and check in.

✅ Are you on track with your fundraising targets?
✅ Have your strategies worked the way you hoped?
✅ What’s surprised you?
✅ What’s been harder than expected?

This is your chance to step back and make strategic shifts while there’s still time to finish strong. Carve out space for a quick audit as we step into fall. Your December self will thank you. ☺️
