Less than 1% of donors on CanadaHelps give securities. They contribute 16% of all dollars.

That gap is worth paying attention to.

Three practical steps to get started:

→ Mention it. Donors won't give this way if they don't know it's possible.
→ Set up your brokerage account. One conversation with your bank puts you in position to say yes.
→ Use a platform like CanadaHelps. Receipting, sale, and distribution — handled.

The 2026 Giving Report shows securities giving has grown 361% since 2020. The organizations capturing this are the ones making it visible.

Is it visible at yours?

The meaning behind the visuals — National Indigenous Peoples Day

At the centre: a feather, a narwhal, and a fiddle — representing First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures, woven together in a circular design that reflects their connection.

Around them: flowing lines and florals symbolizing land, water, and all living beings. Dotted beadwork patterns. Stars honouring the children who never came home from residential schools — always remembered, even in celebration. Flames representing the strength of knowledge and culture carried forward.

The sunrise palette marks the summer solstice — a time of celebration for many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. Light, renewal, possibility.

What does generosity that lasts 200 years look like?

This morning we were honoured to join the Anglican Diocese of Toronto Foundation's Breakfast at St. James Cathedral. Dr. John Bowen challenged the room to think beyond the short term — to plant ministry for generations to come.

We heard incredible stories of new and emerging ministries taking root across the Diocese: pop-up cafés building community, youth finding their footing, and parishes finding fresh ways to meet people beyond their doors.

Generosity makes it possible. We left inspired.

Thank you to the ADTF team for a beautiful morning of vision and community. 🙏Anglican Diocese of Toronto Foundation

☀️ Summer and fundraising — an unlikely pair? Not if you do it right.

Your supporters aren't gone — they're rested. They're at the cottage, on the patio, finally still enough to reconnect with what they care about most.

A quick summer update — a story, a photo, a simple thank-you — is one of the most valuable things you can do right now. No ask required.

Strategy is stewardship.

Here's the thing: it costs five times more to find a new donor than to keep the one you already have. We find that the organizations that show up in summer are the ones that close strong in the fall. 💛

Myth: Fundraising is about asking for money

Fundraising isn't about asking for money.

It never was.

The most generous donors we encounter across Canada's nonprofit sector give because they are invited in — into a vision they believed in, a community they wanted to be part of, a mission that felt called to invest in.

Creating the plan and envisioning the future is the work. Inviting people to invest in that vision is the easy part.

How is your organization inviting people into your mission this year?

When the right support is in place, communities don't just meet their goals — they surpass them.

Terry Marklevitz, a Retired Architect and Campaign Co-Chair at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, shared this:

“I was a member of the previous capital campaign that managed to raise only about 80% of our goal. I sat during many of those meetings as everyone spend a great deal of time considering the options for running the campaign. While I was also on the present campaign committee, I was very uncertain that we would be able to meet the goal. However your process established a goal that was reasonable, a goal we have now surpassed. You kept us focused on well-defined tasks. As a result, we achieved 130% of our goal and we now have the means to finish the capital repairs to the church but perhaps more importantly as a parish we have be given confidence, necessary to sustain our parish life.”

This is what it looks like when mission comes to life.

Are you ready to bring yours to life too?

🌿 Earth Day is tomorrow, April 22nd. And it isn't just a reminder. It's a call. May we be faithful stewards of all that has been entrusted to us.

Real stewardship today looks like:
🔆 Turn off lights — every bit of energy saved counts
☀️ Support clean, renewable electricity in your community
🚶 Choose car-free trips when you can
💧 Reduce waste and water use at home
🤝 Advocate — write, vote, speak up for bold climate action

As the David Suzuki Foundation reminds us, we must rapidly shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Wind and solar are already the cheapest electricity in history. Clean energy means better health, more jobs, and a livable future.

Generosity isn't a campaign strategy. It's a culture.

Some communities carry it quietly — in the way they talk about their mission, in donors that are educated on the vision and choose to give because they see its value, in the leaders who speak personally about why it matters. By the time a campaign begins, the foundation is already there.

It's a perspective we share with Paul Nazareth, MFA-P — known across Canada as "The Generosity Guy" — whose life's work is rooted in advancing generosity, no fundraising required. Paul has long championed the idea that generosity and philanthropy are bigger than any single campaign or ask. At M&M International, we couldn't agree more.

That's what we love helping organizations build. Not just a successful campaign, but a community that's truly ready for one.

After working with 400+ nonprofits and faith-based organizations, we've noticed one consistent difference between campaigns that thrive and ones that stall: a plan.
A strong fundraising strategy doesn't just raise more money — it protects what matters most.
Here's what we see when organizations take the time to plan:
→ Donors give with greater confidence when they can see a clear vision and a credible path forward.
→ Volunteers and staff stay energized because everyone knows their role in the story.
→ Boards lead from a place of clarity, not anxiety.
→ And the communities you exist to serve? They don't have to wait.
Strategy is stewardship. It says: we take this mission seriously enough to plan for it.
If your organization is doing extraordinary work and you're ready to build the foundation it deserves — we'd love to be part of that conversation.
What does your fundraising strategy look like this year?
